According to a friend of Olivia’s, the MAFS star was completely ‘blindsided’ when Jackson ended their relationship — after being together for just 10 months.
“Jackson was the one who ended things and she was blindsided. When she got back from Europe she was talking about them getting married and moving to the UK together, but he wasn’t really wanting any of this,” the source tells Yahoo Lifestyle.
“The six weeks she was overseas was the first time they’d spent apart since meeting on the show and it was as if he realised how intense and unhealthy everything had become.”
After the show wrapped up filming, the pair moved in together in NSW’s Central Coast and Olivia regularly described Jackson as ‘the love of her life’ on Instagram.
Our source tells us that Jackson will continue to live in their current home, while Olivia moves back in with family.
It hasn’t all been smooth sailing for the couple, as Jackson was pictured kissing Melbourne woman Hannah Hughes in May.
The pair released a joint video statement addressing the incident on Instagram, saying they planned to stay together and ‘heal’ from the event.
However, one of Jackson’s friends tells Yahoo Lifestyle that the couple was destined for failure after the cheating scandal.
“They were pretty much over after he kissed that girl on the night out, and never really recovered from that, even though Olivia didn’t want to let him go,” the source reveals.
Fans quickly took to social media to discuss the split, with many believing that Jackson was responsible.
“Oh please…did anyone really believe that was EVER going to last. Like to know who ended it but I’d put my money on Jackson,” wrote one fan.
“Finally he got out, maybe with her being overseas was time to think about the ‘relationship’. I truly think he loved her, but she wanted the fame, the girl next door romance etc…but it backfired big time,” another added.
“He’s finally woken up huh,” a third quipped.
Olivia and Jackson confirm their split
This comes after Olivia and Jackson announced their split on Instagram, along with pictures of the pair from happier times.
"There has always been a lot of love in our relationship and there will continue to be as we transition into friendship," they wrote.
"We have nothing but love and respect for one another, and no one is to blame for the end of this relationship. Simply a case of 'almost perfect'.
"We hope you all can please show compassion as we navigate this privately."
