M&M’s Has an All-New Product Hitting Shelves Now—and We Tried It First
Mars might be coming for Reese's with this one.
When you think of M&M’s, you probably think of the bite-sized candy-coated chocolate you love eating by the handful or adding to your favorite baking recipes. But the M&M’s brand is so much more than just the original chocolate candies and its subsequent flavors—not to mention the brilliant merch.
M&M’s has branched out from the candy space quite a few times, including into the snacking world with Kar’s Nuts trail mixes and ice cream aisle with its line of frozen desserts. Now, M&M’s is expanding its ice cream collection by introducing a fan-favorite flavor: peanut butter.
Last year, M&M’s leaned into the peanut butter flavor trend by launching its Peanut Butter Mega M&M’s and Peanut Butter & Jelly M&M’s. With customers loving the creamy PB candies, Mars decided to add the flavor to its ice cream sandwich offerings with the new M&M’s Peanut Butter Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich.
M&M's Launches New Peanut Butter Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich
The new ice cream sandwich features two vanilla sugar cookies dotted with real M&M's Milk Chocolate Minis encasing a creamy peanut butter-flavored ice cream. The homestyle cookies are tender and soft and the rich ice cream is made with 100 percent real peanut butter.
This is M&M’s first-ever peanut butter ice cream offering—joining only the popular Reese’s Peanut Butter Ice Cream Sandwich in the freezer aisle. M&M’s new PB ice cream cookie sandwich can be found alongside M&M’s Vanilla, Chocolate, Cookies and Cream, and Mint ice cream sandwiches.
The M&M’s Peanut Butter Ice Cream Cookie Sandwiches will be sold in four-packs and single-serve options and are currently hitting retailers nationwide.
I tried the new peanut butter ice cream sandwiches early—here is my honest review.
My Honest Review
Typically, I’m not an ice cream sandwich kind of person—biting into cold ice cream and frozen cookies tends to hurt my teeth. However, as a peanut butter and M&M’s lover, I would do anything to try the new treat.
After letting the ice cream sandwich thaw for a few minutes, I bit into the vanilla cookie with peanut butter ice cream—and I’m happy I did.
Even frozen, the sugar cookies are soft and have a nice pop of chocolaty flavor from the M&M’s. Where the dessert really shines is the peanut butter ice cream. It has a nice, rich peanut butter flavor that I could eat straight out of a pint.
So, M&M’s, if you’re listening, I know you make an M&M's Chocolate Ice Cream Pint, but I’d buy an M&M’s Peanut Butter Ice Cream Pint again and again.
My only wish is that M&M’s went all-in on the peanut butter flavor and gave us a peanut butter cookie with the creamy peanut butter M&M’s. However, as a peanut butter fan, I’ll certainly take this ice cream sandwich over nothing—especially because there aren’t that many peanut butter ice cream sandwiches on the market.
Now that M&M’s has released peanut butter flavors in almost every product, I can’t wait to see what the candy brand's next big flavor will be.
