Luke Bryan feels slighted by recent election results — but not that one.

During the opening monologue of the 58th annual Country Music Association Awards, the "Buy Dirt" singer, 48, bemoaned losing out on PEOPLE's Sexiest Man Alive title to this year's cover star John Krasinski.

He and cohosts Lainey Wilson and Peyton Manning were discussing feeling bummed about hoping for certain voting results, and Bryan brought up losing out on the hot prize.

The American Idol judge, who never received the highly-coveted superlative, said: "This isn't easy, I don't know how I got left out."

But Bryan also had some advice for first-time Country Music Awards host Wilson, 32, "When you're in a rut, shake that butt." Manning, 48, however, told Wilson not to listen to Bryan.

"I told Lainey just to smile, have fun and not listen to a single word Luke Bryan says," the NFL legend said.

Bryan is known for his butt-shaking dance moves, especially in the music video for his 2011 song Country Girl (Shake It For Me).

Wilson joined Manning and Bryan as a cohost for the CMA Awards after the duo hosted side-by-side in 2022 and 2023, bringing her bell-bottom flare to the night celebrating country.

"I could not be more excited to host the CMA Awards this year with Luke and Peyton," Wilson said in a statement in September when it was revealed she would serve as cohost for the 2024 iteration of the awards show.
