“Love Island USA”'s Bergie Wishes Girlfriend Taylor Happy Birthday with Touching Tribute: 'Best Thing to Ever Happen to Me'

On Tuesday, Feb. 4, Love Island USA star Carsten "Bergie" Bergersen celebrated his girlfriend Taylor's special day with a touching Instagram post.

Alongside a carousel of images that featured some of their favorite moments, Bergie reflected on all of the ways their relationship changed his life.

"Happy Birthday to the Love of my Life @taylor98smith!" he began in the caption. "Taylor you have been the best thing to ever happen to me. You have helped me become a better man with all the challenges life has faced us with since leaving the villa. I couldn’t imagine going through life without you."

He also thanked Taylor for supporting "every decision I have made" and believing he "could do it, even when I had doubts."

"You were everything I was looking for in the villa. I can’t way to go through this next year of life with you, whether we’re cuddling with stuffed animals, hanging out with family, using chopsticks because you taught me how to use them, listening to Tate McRae for the millionth time, or just living life together," he concluded. "I love you babe! Happy Birthday!"

The post included snapshots of the couple snuggling with stuffed animals in bed, cute photos of the duo hanging out with family and throwback clips of their time on Love Island USA.

After meeting on the hit dating show in 2023, the season 5 stars celebrated their one year anniversary in August 2024.

To mark the relationship milestone, Taylor shared a few sweet snaps of their fun-filled year together in a celebratory Instagram post.

“Carsten,” she began. “This past year has been the craziest most fantastic year I could have ever imagined. If you were to ask me before going on love island ‘Do you think you’re actually going to find love on the show.’ I probably would’ve said the odds are very slim. But Boy Was I wrong!”

Taylor continued, “The way you continuously challenge me in life as I strive to become a better person is just one of the many reasons why I love you. As we continue our everyday facetime calls, monthly visits, Amazing date nights and the commitment of this long distance relationship we have is stronger than anyone could ever imagine.”
