“Love Is Blind”'s Chelsea on That Final Date Bombshell from Jimmy: 'Completely Out of Left Field' (Exclusive)
"That was a shock. Yeah, I'll never go back there ever again," Chelsea Blackwell tells PEOPLE of the amusement park where she and fiancé Jimmy Presnell's date took a turn for the worse
Warning: This story contains spoilers from the season 6 finale of Love Is Blind.
Chelsea Blackwell's relationship with Jimmy Presnell finally came to an end on Love Is Blind — and though fans might've expected their split considering the couple's tumultuous time together, Chelsea says she couldn't have been more surprised.
When asked if she sensed a breakup was coming, she tells PEOPLE. "Not at all. I definitely did not expect it. It was completely out of left field."
"We were in such a good spot going into that date that I was just over the moon, and so in love. We did so much work on our relationship and we were just in the most amazing spot we could have been in, I thought," she continues. "So that whole conversation ... I was definitely taken aback."
The fact that Jimmy, 28, ended things after their fun date at the amusement park is not lost on Chelsea, 31, either. "I think I even mentioned to him, I'm like, 'Man, did you just wait all day so you can enjoy this theme park? Just us? What in the heck?' So yeah, that was a shock."
She adds of the not-so-fun-fair: "Yeah, I'll never go back there ever again."
Still, the flight attendant and event planner knows Jimmy spared them both the embarrassment of rejection by dumping her privately as opposed to doing it in front of their family and friends at their wedding.
"He was very concerned about [that]. He was very vocal with me the whole time, and he just really did not want my family to travel and my friends to waste their time and come out there if he knew for sure he was going to say no," she explains. "So I think he was just more thinking of wasting my family's time, wasting my time, and just wanted to do it as soon as he had his solidified answer."
Chelsea and Jimmy had a strong connection in the pods but both had another top contender they were considering. Jimmy ultimately broke up with Jessica Vestal in order to propose to Chelsea, and she ended things with Trevor Sova after Jimmy's proposal.
However, the couple faced troubles almost immediately, beginning with their reveal. Chelsea prompted internet discourse among fans after telling Jimmy that she looked like Megan Fox while they were still in the pods. After their reveal, Jimmy said in a confessional that his fiancée had "lied" about her appearance (but he was still attracted to her).
In the Dominican Republic, Chelsea got upset with Jimmy for making comments about costar Amber Desiree "AD" Smith's body. Back in North Carolina, she confronted him about his lack of affection and he accused her of being “clingy.” She also discovered that Jimmy had seen a photo of Jessica and worried that he was second-guessing his choice, though he quelled her concern.

One of their final blowout fights happened after Jimmy went out with his female friends — one of whom he previously slept with — and Chelsea felt uncomfortable about the situation. As they were arguing, she mentioned the hookup, which set Jimmy off because they had agreed not to talk about it in front of cameras.
While Chelsea admits to PEOPLE that her actions weren't ideal, she also points out that the conversation needed to be had as they were still working through some relationship problems just days before potentially getting married.
"I definitely do regret bringing it up on camera," Chelsea explains. "That was something that he made very clear he didn't want exposed to the world, but in reality, this is my relationship, these are our issues, and I'm really sitting with this issue that I am not allowed to bring up at certain times, and that's not fair."
"It's not fair on either side, but just having to walk on eggshells around a really massive issue in our relationship, I had to have that conversation. I didn't care about the cameras," she says. "He was just very concerned about how he looked and how he was portrayed, and I just didn't — clearly, I just didn't give two craps."
In the season 6 finale, Chelsea and Jimmy both expressed how "confident" they felt about their future together before Jimmy pulled the plug on their romance, citing how Chelsea "broke his trust" by revealing his "deepest, darkest secrets" involving his friend.
"I love you to death and I want a relationship with you, and I want us to work so bad. But I don't wanna go to the altar. I can't," he said in the finale, later noting, "That night was such a big step back that I can't fathom marrying you."
Despite the heartbreak she faced, Chelsea tells PEOPLE she's learned a lot from her relationship with Jimmy and her time on the show.
"I've definitely learned that I am so much stronger than I ever thought, even going through and having my relationship exposed to the world.... I realized how strong and a bad bitch I am, that it's just like, 'Oh my God, I'm so proud of myself,'" she says.
"And I've learned what I do want in a relationship of things I wasn't getting from Jimmy that wasn't shown," she continues. "He was not matching up his actions with his words, and he was saying all the right things and it was amazing, but his actions were not matching his words. So when it comes to future relationships, that's just something that it has to line up or it's not going to work."
