Loudermilk fans petition Netflix to make more seasons: ''It's not just a show'
Loudermilk has left viewers wanting more - but will the streamer meet their demands?
You may have seen the tile for Loudermilk on your Netflix landing page (after all, it’s been in the top ten trending shows in Australia of late). Or maybe you’ve seen the viral clip of the show’s main character - Sam Loudermilk, played by Ron Livingston, ripping into an unwitting barista on account of her “vocal fry”.
Or, maybe your mates have been raving about the sardonic series since the first three seasons landed on the streamer and you’re just keen to find out what all the fuss is about.
Well, you’re in the right place. Here’s what you need to know about Loudermilk - including the much-asked question of who’s in the cast and when we might be getting a new season.
What is Loudermilk about?
In a nutshell, Loudermilk is a darkish comedy about a former music critic - and raging alcoholic and drug user - who leads a Sober Friends group in Seattle. Despite being someone that his group look to for support and advice, Sam Loudermilk is brash and sarcastic, chronically cranky and battling his slew of demons - but ultimately has a good heart.
Inhabiting Loudermilk’s world (and apartment) are his best friend - and fellow addict - Ben, and a wayward young woman named Claire whom Loudermilk tries to help as a begrudging favour to the priest who runs the church where the Sober Friends meetings take place.
Who is in the cast of Loudermilk?
As mentioned, Ron Livingston plays the title character (you may recognise him as Jack Berger, who broke up with Carrie Bradshaw with a post-it note on Sex and the City) but the stellar cast doesn’t stop there.
Will Sasso (Mad TV, Happy Gilmore), Laura Mennell (The Man in the High Castle, Watchmen), Anja Savcic (Nancy Drew) and Eric Keenleyside (Once Upon a Time, Godzilla).
Packing some serious comedic gravitas into the ensemble are stand-ups such as Brian Regan and Jackie Flynn.
Loudermilk could also teach other productions a thing or two about diversity and inclusion with a fantastic group of actors with disabilities like Mat Fraser, Eddie Barbanell, Lauren Wasser and Sofia Cheyenne.

Who sings the theme song from Loudermilk?
The catchy opening song is called 'Stand on the Horizon' by UK band Franz Ferdinand.
Where is Loudermilk filmed?
The series is set in Seattle, AKA the birthplace of grunge, which works well with the back story that Loudermilk was a music critic for Rolling Stone. However, the actual series is shot in Vancouver and most of the actors mentioned above are, in fact, Canadian!
Where can I watch Loudermilk in Australia?
The first three seasons of the series are currently streaming on Netflix.
Will there be a season 4 of Loudermilk?
Unfortunately, we don’t know at the moment. The series premiered back in 2017 on a US network called Audience which has since shut down, which meant Loudermilk was left without a home despite being hugely popular.
Series creator Peter Farrelly (yep, of the legendary Farrelly brothers) has said that he had hoped the show would go for seven seasons, telling Deadline that he had thought about what might happen if there was a fourth instalment.
“It is the year Loudermilk gets his mojo back”, he said. “He writes a book at the end of Season 3, it’s all about the music world. It becomes a huge smash hit in Season 4. And all of a sudden, he is back in the game, people are inviting him to parties, and he is hanging out with real musicians.
"Now the question is, will he have time for that sad, sad group he has been babysitting for the last three years? Will he be able to maintain the sobriety now that he is back in the fast lane?”

So, is Loudermilk worth watching?
If you love a biting comedy with some genuinely tender scenes and plenty of wisecracks and LOL moments, then we’re going to say YES!
As one Twitter/X user noted, “It's not a show in which you can expect twists every 10 minutes, but more of a slow burner.”
Finished watching #LouderMilk, I loved the screen presence of Ron Livingston, his lazy face, and lethargic sucker punch dialogue delivery make the show enjoyable. It's not a show in which you can expect twists every 10 minutes, but more of a slow burner.pic.twitter.com/p5h1wjaF6X

In fact, people are so passionate about the series that there is a petition on Change.org urging Netflix to produce more seasons.
So there you have it! Fire up that Netflix account and start watching (and laughing!).
