A London Home With a Club Room Inspired by Annabel’s Now Rents for $50,000 a Week

You wouldn’t know it from the outside, but this relatively unassuming London home is hiding a glamorous secret club and not just one but two swimming pools. Tucked away on Avenue Road in the capital’s St. John’s Wood neighborhood, famous for having some of the highest-priced properties in the U.K., the plush abode by award-winning studio Paolo Moschino is available to rent long term for a tad more than $50,000 per week. That’s right, per week.

“This palatial residence on one of London’s most prestigious streets is the very definition of refined luxury,” said Olivia McSweeney, senior director of lettings at UK Sotheby’s International Realty. “Every inch of this home exudes elegance and purpose, creating a truly unique living experience.” The refurbished five-bedroom residence spans 12,000 square feet and retains numerous period features, including the original wooden floors and intricate cornicing, along with soaring ceilings and large picture windows.

The opulent gold-walled club room takes its inspiration from the famous Annabel’s in Mayfair.

Set over four floors, the pad stuns right away with a striking entrance hall clad in Crema Luna limestone with views of the lush formal gardens. To one side is the sleek chef’s kitchen, equipped with a dumbwaiter and top-of-the-line appliances by Wolf and Miele. There’s also a formal dining room for 12 people housed inside a light-filled conservatory, plus a sprawling living room with four fireplaces encased in acid-etched mirrored panels.

The design firm’s biggest transformation was to the basement, which they converted into a maximalist club room inspired by Annabel’s, the legendary private member’s club in Mayfair that’s hosted everyone from Leonardo DiCaprio to Elizabth Taylor. The lavish space is decked out with a glitzy brass-lined vaulted ceiling, gold-leafed walls, an enormous dance floor, plush furnishings, and a dining area for up to 30 people. Additional amenities tucked into the sprawling lower level include an indoor swimming pool, a spa, a gym, and a 3,000-bottle temperature-controlled wine cellar.

Outside, a centerpiece of the perfectly landscaped grounds is a wooden pergola with a stone dining table and stately lanterns floating overhead. Elsewhere, a pizza oven, a marble bar, and an outdoor pool complete the Regency-esque setting. “Just moments from Regent’s Park, this property offers a rare blend of privacy, security, and easy access to St. John’s Wood’s finest shopping and dining,” McSweeney added. “For those seeking the pinnacle of London living, this home is simply in a league of its own.”
