What Logies darling Costa Georgiadis looks like without a beard
Tom Gleeson may have taken home the Gold Logie, but we all know the darling of this year’s awards night was Costa Georgiadis.
The self-described half man, half hedge, picked up the award for ‘Most Popular Presenter’, while the show he hosts, Gardening Australia, won ‘Best Lifestyle Program’ in its 30th year on air.
Taking to the stage to accept the awards, Costa’s bushy beard - which he accessorised with fresh flowers - was the talk of the town.
Congrats to our favourite hedge! #Costa Love your flowers in your hair and beard @CostasGarden. Great result! #gardeningaustralia #Logies #growforgold https://t.co/jdrTYa8Agu

It’s 30 years young
Costa’s beard is nothing new, in fact, it’s been around for almost three decades, and the gardener has no plans of losing it any time soon.
“The beard is me!” he said on Gardening Australia earlier this year, “I had the beard long before I got involved in television, and I’ll have it long after.”
“It’s not a fad, it’s not a trend.”
So where did it come from? Well, it was born out of an unfortunate bout of illness while Costa was travelling through Egypt.
“I was crook and couldn’t be bothered shaving. I never shaved again,” he said.
Costa’s facial hair has long been a point of contention among his fans, and he’s constantly given unsolicited advice on what to do with his beard.
But contrary to what some may think, he isn’t hiding anything under there, as these beardless photos prove:
Bloomin’ brilliant
The Logies also wasn’t the first time Costa has experimented with beautifying his beard.
Attending Canberra’s Floriade festival last year, Costa weaved a mix of pansies, lavender and sweet peas through his beard.
He also slung a living shawl over his shoulders before appearing on breakfast television on Monday, proving nature is always your best accessory.
While he may not have beaten Tom Gleeson to the Gold Logie, Costa and his beard have definitely won thousands of hearts.
