Lisa Wilkinson stunned at X-rated The Project joke: 'Have him fired'

They’re known for their playful banter on The Project but Lisa Wilkinson couldn’t hide her distaste for one of comedian Tommy Little’s X-rated jokes on the current affairs show last night.

Tommy was presenting a segment on South African cricketer Quinton de Kock, when he made a light-hearted quip.

“There is no better feeling than watching the Aussies bowl with de Kock out,” he said.

While the rest of the panel burst into tears, with Jan Fran shaking her head at Tommy while smiling, Lisa Wilkinson looked thoroughly unimpressed.

Lisa refused to look at Tommy, who appeared a little bit sheepish.

“What are you reading there, Wilko?” he asked Lisa, who kept her eyes firmly on her notes.

“Anything, as long as I don‘t have to listen to you right now,” she said.

Tommy jokingly pretended to write on his own notes: “Have him fired”.

It comes after Lisa recently opened up to fellow The Project host Hamish MacDonald about her time on the Today show, while promoting her new memoir, It Wasn't Meant To Be Like This.

Lisa revealed exactly how she found out she had lost her job on the morning show and how shattered it made her feel.

"I was standing in aisle six at Woolies holding a can of tuna. I felt stupid and humiliated and betrayed and pretty pathetic."

She added that no one knew she had an offer from Channel Ten on the table, "I think the idea was to humiliate me because I'd been in negotiations to try and close the gender pay gap."

Hamish questioned how big the gap was, to which she said: "Doesn't get much bigger than the gap that I experienced. I was very expendable. I didn't even get a chance to say goodbye to your audience, I was told 'that's it'."
