Linda Ronstadt slams Donald Trump ahead of his rally in her hometown, endorses Kamala Harris for president

The music legend condemned the Republican nominee ahead of his rally in Tucson, Ariz.

Linda Ronstadt has a message for Donald Trump: You’re no good.

Though the music legend, 78, would “prefer to ignore” the “sad fact” that the Republican presidential nominee is holding a rally on Thursday not just in her hometown of Tucson, Ariz. but also her namesake hall, Ronstadt condemned Trump in a statement shared on social media and endorsed Democratic nominee Kamala Harris.

“It saddens me to see the former president bring his hate show to Tucson, a town with deep Mexican-American roots and a joyful, tolerant spirit,” wrote the Mexican-American artist. “I don’t just deplore his toxic politics, his hatred of women, immigrants and people of color, his criminality, dishonesty and ignorance — although there’s that.”

For Ronstadt, “it comes down to this,” she explained: “the Trump Administration systematically ripped apart migrant families seeking asylum. Family separation made orphans of thousands of little children and babies, and brutalized their desperate mothers and fathers. It remains a humanitarian catastrophe that Physicians for Human Rights said met the criteria for torture.”

"Trump first ran for president warning about rapists coming in from Mexico," Ronstatdt noted, but she's concerned about keeping Trump —who was found liable in the 1996 sexual assault of columnist E. Jean Carroll — out of the White House.

The singer also shared a pointed message for J.D. Vance, Trump’s running mate for VP, alongside a photo of herself with her cat. In it, she lambasted Vance’s widely-condemned referral of single women in the Democratic party as “childless cat ladies”: “I raised two adopted children in Tucson as a single mom. They are both grown and living in their own houses. I live with a cat. Am I half a childless cat lady because I’m unmarried and didn’t give birth to my kids?”

“Call me what you want, but this cat lady will be voting proudly in November for @kamalaharris and @timwalz.” Ronstadt concluded.

In his first post-debate campaign event, Trump is scheduled to address supporters at Linda Ronstadt Music Hall on Thursday. Second gentleman Doug Emhoff is also slated to hold a competing rally in support of Harris. The events come after a contentious first presidential debate between Trump and Harris held Tuesday evening at Philadelphia's National Constitution Center.

Taylor Swift, Barbra Streisand, Charli XCX, and Megan Thee Stallion are among the high-profile musicians who've also endorsed Harris and VP pick Tim Walz.
