Let in a bug-free breeze with this customizable magnetic screen, on sale for $14
'Easy to install, easy to remove': Cut it to fit even oddly shaped windows without dragging out your tool kit.
Ah, summer. Flowers and fresh-cut grass are perfuming the breeze, and you might be ready to open those windows and let in some fresh air — especially if the air conditioning has left your teeth chattering. If a torn-up screen that gives bugs a direct path inside is stopping you, let us introduce you to the NeatiEase Magnetic Window Screen.
Your tool box can stay in the garage. All you need to install this screen is a tape measure and scissors.
Why is it a good deal? 💰
At $14 with the on-page coupon, this clever magnetic screen is at its lowest price since last fall, and it's unlikely to go much lower — at least before your furnace starts kicking on, that is. And it's certainly a lot cheaper than opting for a permanent screen, which can cost up to $150 installed (and way more for large windows).
Why do I need this? 🤔
There's nothing quite like letting fresh air inside on a breezy day. Not so great? Catching multi-legged invaders hanging out by your dinner. These sturdy screens can let the air in and keep the critters out, and they install easily with the help of magnetic tape. If you need to remove them, they leave no sticky trace and can be customized for uniquely shaped windows, though they're available in several sizes. (Prices vary by size.)
It's the perfect solution when your lease doesn't allow you to install a screen — there are no screws and no drilling involved — or if you have a lot of windows that would require a much pricier solution. They're also ideal for casement windows, sliding windows and even tricky jalousies.
What reviewers say 💬
Homeowners and renters love this magnetic screen — 1,900 have given it a five-star rating, calling it an "easy, flexible, cheap solution!"
Pros 👍
Wrote one shopper: "I lived in an apartment with no window screens on the third floor. Having a cat in the apartment, it felt dangerous when I wanted to open the window. Naturally, per the lease, I wasn't supposed to do any 'damaging or permanent' alterations. This product checked all the boxes I needed! Custom sizing (per your needs), easy to install, easy to remove, sturdy, and good quality! Helped me have peace of mind for my cat and no incoming bugs!"
It also comes in handy in an Airbnb. "We are staying long-term in an Airbnb and one of the windows is missing a screen. I looked for an adjustable screen I could place in the window, but couldn't find anything tall enough. This screen kit did the job perfectly! I liked that it didn't require any special tools, just a tape measure and scissors."
"We have windows that didn’t come with screens when we purchased the house, and have two cats who love to sit in front of these windows and watch the birds," said another shopper who avoided a cat-astrophe. "We could never open the windows all the way because we didn't want them getting out. This took me about 20 minutes to install, and of course, it doesn't look as professional as if we hired a company but it'll pass for sure!"
Cons 👎
Dust off your DIY skills, buyers say. "It can be tough pressing the plastic seal in with the window mesh," reported this shopper. "I found it helped immensely to precut the right length of seal and apply by lifting the magnetic tape off and pressing on both sides (so you're applying pressure from the front and back) and then let the magnetic snap back to place as you finish sealing."
The adhesive can wear down over time, another reviewer says. "My only complaint here is the sticky adhesive part of the magnetic strip that goes around the window sill is loosening up and therefore one might need to consider gluing the strip in place."
Magnetic tape makes installation a snap, and you can cut the screen to fit oddly shaped windows.
