It doesn't get more glam than the Academy Awards, and this year one celebrity makeup artist has given us a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into that Oscars glow.

Makeup artist Georgie Eisdell took to Instagram to share how she prepped The Great Gatsby actress Carey Mulligan for her stunning red carpet appearance, which included a two-piece gold Valentino gown, and lots of Channel beauty products.

But perhaps the most intriguing inclusion was this $630 LED Light Therapy Mask by CurrentBody which looks like something out of a science fiction film.

Georgie says she used the mask for 15 minutes on Carey before starting her makeup look, writing, "Before every red carpet we mask!! @currentbody LED mask Smooths, Calms and Firms. I cannot live without it."

What this $630 light therapy mask does:

Using the power of anti-aging red light and near infra-red light therapy, the silicone face mask is supposed to stimulate the skin’s natural rejuvenation process, creating a glowing complexion that is noticeably healthier looking.

It's also reported to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as improve skin’s tone, texture and firmness in just four weeks, and has found a celebrity following in the likes of Kaley Cuoco, Renee Zellweger, Gal Gadot, and Suki Waterhouse.

Ordinary shoppers seem to enjoy it too, with one review saying; “This mask is brilliant, it's so easy to use and very comfortable due to it being made of silicone, unlike the hard LED masks. I've only been using it for three weeks now, but my skin looks fresher and absorbs my creams more easily when applied after using."

Another reads, “I am obsessed with this product. I've been seeing so many before and after photos of others and seeing all the stars using this Infrared LED pad. I have to say I am impressed. It's very relaxing to use.”

However, some people who have bought the mask have said that it sometimes slips down your face while in use, and needs a little adjusting to ensure it stays securely in place. It's currently on sale for $430 from CurrentBody.

Carey Mulligan's Oscars beauty look

Going full luxury for Hollywood's night of nights, the actress' skincare and makeup products were all from Chanel, and you'd need a whopping $1,337 to purchase everything she used.

After a session with the LED mask, Georgie prepped Carey's skin with this $305 Essential Regenerating Mask and $135 Hydra Beauty Micro Serum.

She gave Carey that red carpet ready look with a $91 Les Beiges Healthy Glow Foundation, along with this $91 Healthy Glow Bronzing Cream, $71 Baume Essential highlighter in 'transparent' and $92 Healthy Glow Sheer Powder applied with a large powder brush.

For the subtle smokey eye, she used Chanel's $103 Multi-effect Quadra eyeshadow in 'Elemental' with a $52 Stylo Ombre et Contour khol eyeliner, and $52 Ombre Premiere Laque liquid eyeshadow in 'Desert Wind' for a little shimmer.

She finished it off with this $57 Le Volume Noir mascara and did her brows with this $46 Sculpting Eyebrow pencil and $56 Brow Gel.

A sweep of this $75 Powder Blush in 'Rose Écrin' along her cheekbones, and $53 Conditioning Lip Pencil in 'Pivoine' and $58 Rouge Allure Laque lip colour in 'Ultimate' completed her glam.
