Lara Trump Makes Big Career Move

Lara Trump's resume is getting a big update.

The 42-year-old politician and wife of Eric Trump is set to take on a new role–but it's not in the White House.

On Wednesday, FOX News Media CEO Suzanne Scott announced that Lara would be joining the team as host of a new weekend talk show.

The new program, My View with Lara Trump, will air on Saturday nights at 9 p.m. ET. One Nation with Brian Kilmeade, which was previously scheduled for that slot, will be moved to Sunday nights at 10 p.m. ET.

"I’m thrilled to bring my voice back to FOX News, talk directly with the American people, and highlight what makes this country so great," Lara said in a statement. "As I cover the success of The Golden Age of America, I look forward to where this time will lead our country and where this opportunity will lead me in the future."

Scott also appeared rather encouraged by the new series, calling Lara "A gifted communicator who knows how to connect to the viewers, successful entrepreneur and working mother."

"Lara’s innate understanding of the American public and today’s political landscape will be a compelling addition to our weekend lineup," the exec added.

The move shouldn't be all too surprising for those familiar with Lara's background, as she began her career as a CBS Inside Edition producer before making her way to co-chair of the Republican National Committee. She was a regular Fox News contributor from 2021-2022, has hosted her own web series, The Right View, since 2020, and also served as a senior adviser to the Trump campaign during the 2020 presidential election and was involved in his 2016 campaign.

Lara's new program "will focus on the return of common sense to all corners of American life as the country ushers in a new era of practicality," according to the network. "Every week, the program will feature big picture analysis and interviews with thought leaders, shedding light on the headlines driving the national conversation and affecting families around the country."

It is expected to premiere Saturday, Feb. 22.

After negotiations with Mexican and Canadian officials, the US has delayed tariffs on imports from these countries by another month amid ongoing talks. Wilbur Ross, the former US Secretary of Commerce under the first Trump administration, joined Catalysts to discuss his outlook on these tariffs. Despite the aggressive measures, Ross does not believe a trade war will materialize, despite some experts already characterizing these engagements as one. He argues that these countries "really can't afford a rapidly escalating tariff" for two key reasons: these nations export more to the US than the US exports to them, and these countries have smaller economies. "That makes it very much a loser's game for them," Ross tells Yahoo Finance. He adds that he doesn't "see any set of circumstances under which we [the United States] would end up worse from a trade balance point of view." Regarding negotiations, Ross believes President Trump will not compromise unless China implements the terms agreed upon in his former term. However, the former Commerce secretary states that Canada and Mexico have made "tangible steps" in cooperating on issues like border security and drug trafficking. When questioned about whether Trump's policies are turning "business-unfriendly," Ross tells Yahoo Finance: "By and large, the people who are saying that are the same people who in the first Trump administration were saying when we imposed the steel and aluminum tariffs that 'that'll be the end.'" He emphasizes that these critics "were wrong then and they'll be wrong again." According to Ross, the fundamental purpose is to "change corporate behavior and to encourage resourcing back to the US" as opposed to globalization, which has been the primary strategy of international businesses for years.
