LaKeith Stanfield's Nanny Alleges He Refused to Pay Her After Eight-Day Trip in New Lawsuit
Stanfield and his wife welcomed a daughter together in July
LaKeith Stanfield and wife Kasmere Trice are being sued by one of their former nannies, who claims they refused to pay her for an eight-day trip to New York City.
According to her complaint, obtained by PEOPLE, Monica Sawyer was hired as a travel nanny and set to receive $500 a day from Oct. 31 to Nov. 7 to provide 24-hour supervision for the couple's baby during their trip. However, Sawyer alleges that she hasn't received any compensation for her labor.
A rep for Stanfield did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.
Sawyer alleges that during the trip, she was almost entirely alone with the baby. Trice would check in during the day and provide instructions, but Sawyer claims she was left on her own during the day and night and not given any breaks.

On Nov. 4, Sawyer says she asked for a four-hour minimum break each day for the remainder of the trip. While the couple originally agreed to the ask, Sawyer alleges that they didn't follow through, instead asking her multiple questions throughout her time off.
The situation allegedly came to a head when Trice told Sawyer that their baby would be in her care during the drive to the airport and during the return flight. When Sawyer expressed that she wasn't comfortable with this, she alleges Trice replied, "That's the role of the travel nanny," and stated that no other nanny had protested.
Trice then allegedly canceled Sawyer's flight and told her to figure out her own transportation back to Los Angeles. When she invoiced the couple for her time on the trip, they refused to pay her, per the complaint.
In July, the actor revealed that he had married Trice and that the couple welcomed their first baby together. The actor is also dad to two other daughters from previous relationships.
“There’s life before being a parent, and then there’s life being a parent. It completely changes,” Stanfield said at the time.
“I’m really honored that I got to see the father in [him] before I was even having our baby,” Trice revealed. Stanfield, who said his daughters are "so fun and so smart," admitted that navigating parenting relationships in the spotlight isn’t easy.
“Sometimes, when things can get difficult, you have to remember that what’s most important is the child,” he said, “and that we’re pushing ourselves to grow, so we can reflect back to them the good things.”
"We've manifested this beautiful family," he said of himself and Trice. "I want to spend the rest of my life with her."
