Lainey Wilson Issues Shocking Response After Fan Spits at Her While Performing on Stage

It's not uncommon for country stars to have to deal with the occasional rowdy concertgoer, even when they have legions of devoted fans—just ask Lainey Wilson.

In a recent interview with Taste of Country, the "Hang Tight Honey" songstress opened up about the time when someone in her audience spit on her while she was singing.

"Last year when we were on our headlining tour, somebody spit on me, on stage," Wilson revealed.

While some performers in the same situation might have started a brawl, Wilson stayed calm and didn't miss a beat.

"I thought about getting down there and finding whoever it was, but I didn't. I kept rolling," she continued.

Though she managed to restrain herself and carry on with the show, she said the incident was on her mind for the rest of the night.

"First of all, I was like, 'Why in the world would you buy a ticket and then go spit on somebody?'" she said, adding, "There's some mean people in the world. Also, they could have just been drunk and just being silly."

Wilson, a 2024 CMA Entertainer of the Year nominee, went on to explain that she somehow saw the spit coming for her before it even landed.

"It was weird, I saw it like coming through the air. It was like I made eye contact with the spit and it just lands on me and I'm just like, (singing) 'I got a heart like a truck.' That's how I felt," she said.
