Yahoo Lifestyle Kylie Kelce Just Revealed The Wholesome Reason Why She Was Unable To Eat The Meal That Taylor Swift Cooked For Her
In September 2023, Taylor Swift caused shockwaves when she was spotted enthusiastically cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs from a VIP suite during a game at Arrowhead Stadium.
The move hard-launched her new relationship with the team’s tight end Travis Kelce following his public attempt to woo her.
In case you've forgotten, just two months earlier, the NFL star had admitted that he’d tried and failed to give Taylor his phone number when he attended her Eras Tour.
On their New Heights podcast, Travis told his brother, Jason Kelce, that he’d made a friendship bracelet with his number on it especially for the show, and he was “disappointed” not to have the opportunity to pass it on at any point.
“I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings,” he told Jason after the show. “So I was a little butt-hurt I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her.”
For reference, at this point in time, Taylor was newly single after her controversial whirlwind romance with Matty Healy came to an end in early June.
Prior to this, Taylor had been in a long-term relationship with British actor Joe Alwyn until early April of that same year.
Soon after Travis’s bold comments on his podcast, reports began to swirl that Taylor and Travis were quietly hanging out.
In fact, just days before Taylor’s public appearance at his game, Travis teased that the rumors were true during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show.
And, well, we all know what happened next, with Taylor and Travis still together 17 months later.
Now, in an appearance on Call Her Daddy, Jason’s wife, Kylie Kelce, has opened up about what it was like to welcome pop superstar Taylor into the family — although she suggested that the Kelces didn’t actually know that Travis and Taylor were dating until just before the public found out.
Partway through the wide-ranging interview, host Alex Cooper brought Taylor up to Kylie, kicking off by asking if she and Jason had ever double-dated with the singer and Travis.
“Technically, yes,” Kylie replied, explaining: “It was at home, but yes.”
And when asked if she’d ever eaten a home-cooked meal prepared by Taylor, Kylie revealed that she was actually unable to eat when Taylor cooked for her because she was struggling with sickness during pregnancy.
“I don’t know that I really ate the meal,” she sheepishly began. “This is going to sound terrible; I didn’t really eat the meal because I was eight weeks pregnant, and it was one of those where nothing really sat.”
Despite Taylor and Travis hard-launching in September 2023, Kylie also confirmed speculation that she and Taylor didn’t meet until a Chiefs game in January 2024 as she shut down discourse that the delay in their meeting was a red flag.
“People are deeply disturbed by this,” she said of the four months it took for her and Taylor to meet. “There was all of this stuff leading up to it, like: ‘Well, why haven’t they met? They’re avoiding each other!’ I’m not avoiding anyone; I’m more than happy to meet someone, especially someone Travis is dating.”
“It was funny to me, I kept saying to people I didn’t meet Travis until probably close to a year when Jason and I were dating,” Kylie went on. “And she’s busy! It’s just so silly to me that that’s the storyline that’s written.”
Kylie went on to say that it was “great” to meet Taylor at a football game, prompting Alex to ask how she and Jason first found out about Travis’s high-profile relationship.
“How did Travis tell you guys that he was dating Taylor Swift?” she began. “I’m assuming that your family was getting told this in some capacity at some point, right?”
“We were not,” Kylie replied. “I will say that we knew before everyone else knew, but it was not like…”
“It didn’t hit the group chat?” Alex interjected, to which Kylie confirmed: “No, it did not hit the group chat.”
“Did Jason tell you?” Alex then asked.
“Jason and I found out together,” Kylie replied. “But we knew before they hard-launched with her going to the game.”
Kylie also said that she and Taylor have bonded over the fact that they grew up going to the same “shore points,” with both of their families visiting Sea Isle and Stone Harbor.
