Kyle Sandilands' brother in induced coma
Kyle Sandilands' younger brother Chris is in an induced coma following a serious motorbike accident over the weekend.
Taking to the airwaves on Monday morning, 46-year-old Kyle told co-host Jackie O that Chris in in a critical condition after having two operations, and will be bound to a wheelchair for at least the next six months.
"On the weekend my brother Chris had a major motorbike accident up the coast...it was horrible and I’m still stuck here in London," he said, explaining the "rescue helicopter had to pick him up, they airlifted him".
"He’s got major breakages," the radio presenter continued, revealing Chris has broken his arm and eight ribs, has a "shattered pelvis" and some head injuries.
"I know he’s in an induced coma. He’s had two operations so far. It’s just a nightmare. Mum’s upset and crying," Kyle added.
Trying his best to keep optimistic, he said: "The good news is they can't see any bleeding on the brain or anything like that".
But Chris is "going to be in a wheelchair for six months", said Kyle. "It's just going to be a nightmare".
As his brother is quite active, Kyle says the lack of mobility in a wheelchair will take a toll on Chris.
"I could be in a wheelchair for 12 years and not give a s**t. My brother is out every weekend dirt bike riding. He’s an outdoors guy, he goes to the gym, he climbs rocks.
"I'm just glad he's alive," he then said, revealing the doctors are "going to wake him up tomorrow from this induced coma".
