Kmart fan shares clever $6.50 rental hack: 'Outside the box'
The hack has been touted as a great space-saver.
A Kmart fan has shared a nifty hack for renters who may be worried about adding hooks to walls or surfaces, showing off a way they've managed to hang up their planners/organisers using the $6.50 Kmart cap holders.
A lot of renters have to seek permission from landlords to be able to hang hooks on the wall to display paintings, planners and calendars, and while some may be fine with it, others may worry about the damage that even adhesive hooks can cause to the paint.
One user took to the Kmart Facebook group to share their way around the hack, saying they were currently living in a rental where they couldn't put anything on the walls with added hooks, or even blu-tack.
Kmart shopper shares nifty (and cheap!) rental hack
"Living in a rental where I can’t put anything on the walls with blu-tack, 3M hooks or adding hooks to the walls or any surfaces unless I ask for permission is a real killer of impulsive motivation," they said on their post.
"But I’ve found a way to hang my planner/organisers that I’ve been given and bought secondhand, in a place where I will see them regularly. It’s the Kmart cap holders. I was going to put both boards on one door and put both hat holders on the one door, fixing the boards to both straps, however, our kitten thinks the straps are her new toys as well as the board if she can almost reach it," they said.

"So plan B is one strap per door, and I used crocheted and finger-knitted hanging string to hang them. I’ve positioned a hat hook under each board to hold it still. I’m using what I’ve got to get to where I want to be. I’m pleased with how this has turned out with the scarce resources I have."
Other shoppers praised her for her creativity. "I like how you've thought outside the box!" one person said.
"Brilliant! I’m in the same situation as you, so thanks for the idea," another commented.

"I have these hat hooks for my kids' bedrooms. They're a great space-saver, but omg what a pain to try and get them on," one person shared. "I had to bend each metal end to stop them flicking off the doors lol."
"Can I suggest you add some felt pads at the back corners of the notice board so it doesn't graze the door with movement over time," another person pointed out. "Good on you for doing the right thing."
