King Frederik's alleged mistress' ex-husband speaks out: 'A lot of pain'
"Well, that is an issue that will be seen in the courts."
The ex-husband of the woman at the centre of the cheating allegations surrounding King Frederik has spoken out, saying the rumours have caused "a lot of pain".
Spanish publication Lecturas claimed last year that Frederik cheated on his wife, Queen Mary, with Mexican socialite Genoveva Casanova during a solo trip to Spain.
Frederik and Genoveva attended a Pablo Picasso exhibition together in Madrid, the publication also claims they went into her apartment building separately, both emerging two hours later before getting into the same car.
The pair left in the same car, with the then Crown Prince flying home to Denmark the following morning.

Genoveva's ex-husband Cayetano Martínez de Irujo, whose official title is the Count of Salvatierra, appeared on a TV show hosted by presenter Susanna Griso and spoke about the scandal.
"Well, that is an issue that will be seen in the courts, they have caused a lot of pain to [Genoveva] and my children, a lot of pain," he said.
Genoveva and Cayetano got married in 2005 and share twins Luis and Amina, 22.
Genoveva's statement following affair rumours
Genoveva released a statement that read: "I categorically deny the statements that suggest a romantic relationship between Prince Frederick and me.
"Any statement of this type not only completely lacks the truth but also misrepresents the facts in a malicious manner.
"This is already in the hands of my lawyers, who will take care of the pertinent steps to protect my right to honour, truth and privacy."
Claims Queen Margrethe abdicated to save Frederik's marriage
It comes following claims from a royal expert that Queen Margrethe abdicated, making Frederik and Mary the King and Queen of Denmark, as "damage control" following the cheating scandal.
Royal reporter Kenth G. Madsen believes the former Queen had "no other choice" but to abdicate.

"Against the background of the disclosure of Frederik's visit to Madrid and the documentation of the meeting with Genoveva Casanova, it is reasonable to believe that Queen Margrethe found the time to throw out a lifeline, before the relationship between the Crown Prince couple completely cracked due to the scandal," the reporter told Femail.
"The Queen actually had no other choice: in a strategic move, the monarch succeeded in removing the focus from the affair rumours, and at the same time giving Mary the hyper rare status of queen.
"A royal divorce scandal of that magnitude could break the strongest royal house forever."
