Popular food blogger Snackolator shared a new menu item at KFC on Nov. 30, but unfortunately for people in the United States, they’ll need to go to Canada if they want to try it.
“The new Festive Double Down is available now and features ‘two signature triple-breaded chicken fillets and is loaded with Original Recipe® stuffing, creamy mayo, and tangy cranberry sauce,’” wrote the food influencer, noting that “it's such a perfect menu item for Thanksgiving here that I cannot understand why they only have it in Canada.”
Fans rushed to the comments to give their takes on the menu item, with one person commenting, “I need this! Come on KFC😞.” Another agreed, asking, “Man, why does Canada always get the good stuff?”
“I'd try that without the mayo. They need it here in the US,” said one fan, while another wrote in to say, “calculates how far Virginia is from the Canadian border! 🤔 🤓📏,”
Some seemed on the fence, commenting, “Nah chills that’s too much but if I happen to see this in the US, I might try it out,” and “This looks like an absolute abomination…I’ll take 3 🥲.”
Others were not on board, commenting, “Nah I'm good 😂.”
One fan chimed in to say “1. This a Christmas-y promotion. 2. Only had the bun version, and it was messy but tasty,” while others said, “should’ve been mashed potatoes rather than mayo.”
It should be noted that while Thanksgiving is traditionally celebrated in the United States on the fourth Thursday of November, it’s not a uniquely American holiday, as Canadians have also celebrated Thanksgiving since the 1870s.
Like Thanksgiving in the United States, it’s an autumnal celebration of the bounty of the previous year, though it’s observed earlier, on the second Monday in October.
