Keke Palmer Said that Having Financial Security as a Mother Is a "Stress Reliever"
There's a reason they call her "Keke ‘Keep a Check’ Palmer."
Between her candid conversations about acne and PCOS to sharing her journey with postpartum weight loss, pretty much no topic is off limits for Keke Palmer. In a new interview with Teen Vogue, the actress and mogul spoke about another typically controversial subject: money. She joked about her internet-coined nickname, "Keke ‘Keep a Check’ Palmer,” saying she works a lot because she has to. And that while money can't technically buy happiness, it can relieve stress — especially when it comes to being a mother to her son Leo, whom she shares with ex Darius Jackson.
“I 100% feel like money doesn't buy you happiness. I'm not always happy because of my money," she said. "But the [financial] security I have with my son is a stress reliever. I'm not saying that a mom that is struggling isn't patient, because I know that they are. But if they're not, it's like, ‘I get it, Miss Lady ….’"
She continued, "So, when I look at the position that I'm in and the kind of parent that I am or that I'm becoming, I think it's remiss [not] to say that I have a lot of help."
In addition to being financially sound, Palmer gets other help with Leo from her family and people she trusts. “It's more about keeping Leo insulated with the people that I know and trust, that don't just love him, but love themselves," she explained. "That's really big. It's important that he has good examples. He observes everything. It's about giving him the proper role models and making sure my family is around.”

Palmer certainly earns every perk. She wears a lot of hats, from actress and singer to producer and CEO of KeyTV and her record label, Big Bosses Entertainment. But she knows that eventually, her time in Hollywood will come to an end. She told the publication that the timer has started and her exit could be just around the corner.
“I don’t know. I think the timer has started,” she said of her plans to leave the entertainment industry. “I think it's because I just haven't felt it yet. But the timer, I know that it's around the corner. I don't know when exactly, but it's around the corner.”
