Kayla Itsines makes major change to world-famous fitness program

Kayla Itsines has made a major change to her world-famous fitness programs 10 years after first releasing them, and her followers are here for it.

Taking to her Instagram account to share the news last week, the Sweat personal trainer and global fitness star said the original name of her programs - using the acronym BBG - now represented an "outdated view of health and fitness".

"As Co-Founder of Sweat, I want to ensure we are evolving to better reflect fitness and our community today," Kayla tells Yahoo Lifestyle.

From now on, Kayla's programs will be named:

• BBG renamed to High Intensity with Kayla

• BBG Stronger renamed to High Intensity Strength with Kayla

• BBG Zero Equipment renamed to High Intensity Zero Equipment with Kayla

"Changing the names of my programs to ‘High Intensity’ was important to me to ensure we use language that helps women to feel empowered through fitness and encourage women to look beyond the physical benefits of exercise," the trainer adds.

Sharing the news with her fans, Kayla said it was a "huge moment" for her, and one that gained particular importance since she became mum to now two-year-old Arna.

"I created BBG with the positive intent that every BODY is a bikini body," she captioned her post, adding now was the "right time" to make the change.

"As you can imagine this is a huge moment for me personally as my programs with the BBG name are so well known and have been a massive part of building one of THE biggest female fitness communities in the world," she continued.

"Since having Arna, I’ve become even more aware of how important it is that we use language that empowers women. I want to use language that is completely positive and inspiring for all women and that is the world I want Arna to grow up in."

Kayla's followers and members of her fitness community were extremely supportive of the change.

"You are amazing! It takes a lot of courage to edit your past thinking so publicly! I’m so happy about this change. Sweat is so empowering and supportive, and now the name matches," one person commented.

"This is so great! I was talking to my sister about your programmes the other day and BBG really stuck in my throat a bit. I’m so glad to see you’ve thought about this," another person wrote.

While a third said: "This is awesome. I, like many others, always have known and understood the meaning behind the name of BBG, but it’s so encouraging that you would reevaluate the language and take the feelings of others into consideration and make such a huge change."
