Katy Perry has kicked off 2025 with a seriously stylish start. As well as donning designer labels aplenty, including a vintage Chanel thongkini no less (!!), the artist is known for her occasionally quirky attire. We’re talking about the white crochet bikini she paired with metal robot legs. Or the rubber rings she wore in place of swimwear. Or the sculptural metal shark top that only went and broke while she was wearing it – talk about a wardrobe malfunction…
Yep, her ensembles are arguably not always the most practical. However, Katy’s latest looks suggest she has found the sweet spot of avant-garde high fashion as we have loved absolutely everything she’s worn so far in January.
The Mugler sheer corset dress she wore last week was stunning, even if it did slightly resemble lettuce and was accessorised with a giant croissant. Similarly, the silver mini dress constructed entirely from belts straight off the Jeanne Friot runway was the perfect balance of edgy and Tin Man chic.
Which brings us to her latest look:
For an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, KP channelled her inner rock chick wearing a double leather look consisting of a charcoal strapless corset top and co-ordinating wide-leg trousers. Adorned with studded detailing along the neckline of the boob tube, this same embellishment was echoed on the trousers used to outline two cut-outs slashed across the mid-thigh.
Katy’s accessories only added to the vibe of her ensemble. She went for maximal jewellery with layered silver necklaces, hoop earrings and statement rings. While her black cowboy boots could have injected a touch of Westerncore, the muted hue gave more of a Johnny Depp rock ’n’ roll feel in line with the rest of her look.
If this is how Katy’s started her year, we can’t wait to see what she wears next.
