Karla Sofía Gascón Compliments Conan O'Brien's 'Fantastic' Job Hosting Oscars After He Poked Fun at Her Controversy
O'Brien quipped during his opening monologue that the number of F-bombs in 'Anora' is "three more than the record set by Karla Sofía Gascón's publicist"

The Emilia Pérez star, who was up for Best Actress at the ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday, March 2, referenced the jokes he made about her as she shared photos from the evening to Instagram the following day.
In the caption, she wrote in Spanish, "Thanks to the members of @theacademy for the nomination as best leading actress, for the invitation to the gala; I really liked it, very entertaining and funny, especially its fabulous host Jimmy Kimmel, he is fantastic, every day he looks more like the great Conan O’Brien. 😘"
Gascón, 52, was referring to the part of O'Brien's joke in which the comedian, 61, told the audience, “Karla, if you’re going to tweet about the Oscars, remember, my name is Jimmy Kimmel.”

Following her historic nomination, Gascón came under fire for old social-media posts criticizing Muslim culture, George Floyd, diversity and more. The actress has since deactivated her X account and given several statements and interviews refuting accusations of racism.
During O'Brien's opening monologue on Sunday, he quipped, "Little fact for you, Anora uses the 'F' word 479 times. That's three more than the record set by Karla Sofía Gascón's publicist," before the audience groaned. "You tweeted what?!"

Karla Sofía Gascón is here tonight," O'Brien continued as the cameras panned to the Spanish actress sitting in the audience at the Dolby Theatre. With clasped hands, Gascón bowed her head and blew a kiss before mouthing the words, "Thank you."
Gascón attended the Oscars wearing a one-shoulder, diamond-studded black dress. She seemingly skipped the red carpet, but was spotted inside the star-filled event in a photo captured by The Hollywood Reporter just before the show kicked off.
The actress had previously opted out of several major award shows since facing backlash, and did not attend the Oscar nominee dinner at the Academy Museum on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
She did, however, attend the recent 50th annual César Awards in Paris on Friday, Feb. 28, marking her first appearance at an event following backlash to her old social-media posts. She was nominated for best actress at the French event.
