Karl Stefanovic tears up over 'Love Actually' moment: 'Beautiful'

Karl Stefanovic and his Today Show co-hosts were in tears after witnessing a 'Love Actually' moment at Sydney airport on Thursday morning.

Today reporter Lara Vella was at the airport speaking to people who had their flights home from London delayed due to the UK heatwave, but among the horror stories was one sweet reunion.

As Lara was live on camera, the hosts could see a young girl running through the airport to greet her parents in a heartwarming reunion.

The daughter jumped into her mother's arms with the camera catching the sweet moment for the country to see.

"We don't know what the story is, but it's a good one!" Karl said.

"It doesn't matter!" Allison Langdon said as the hosts exclaimed and clapped.

"Oh, stop it," Karl said, clearly emotional. "Oh, dear!"

Lara ran to the family, asking where they've flown in from, with the father telling her they'd just returned from four and a half weeks in Europe while their kids were with their grandparents.

Speaking with his wife, Lara asked, "What does that hug feel like this morning?"

"It feels great, think we left for too long," she said.

"Oh, I'm so pleased for you guys," Lara said. "There you go guys, happy moments here at Sydney International Airport!"

"You've made our morning, Lara, how beautiful, family reunited," Allison told her, with Karl joking, "I'm sure dad might have been a bit reluctant to talk to the cameras."

"Well wouldn't you be, it's a long flight," Allison said.

"It's just a Love Actually moment, isn't it?" Karl added as he wiped tears away.

"Well done to those in-laws too for looking after the kids," sports presenter Alex Cullen said. "Wipe our eyes after that!"

The Today Show's Instagram followers loved the sweet reunion with one follower writing, "Can’t wait for cuddles like this with my 3 year old when I get home on Sunday."

"4 weeks!!? Wow! Can I borrow your in-laws!" another user joked.

"Do you think we could in-laws to babysit for 4 weeks!" a third wrote, tagging another user.

Others were not so complimentary with one Twitter user writing, "Geez let them have their moment, no need for you to butt in."
