Karl Stefanovic to earn $2 million for 'one week's work'

Karl Stefanovic may have been axed from his anchor role on the Today show last year, but it seems the star could still retain his $2 million pay packet from Channel Nine.

Sources claims that the TV host – who has a $6 million multi-year deal with the network – could get the money for just “one week’s work” on his upcoming show, This Time Next Year.

“Nine are yet to announce what else they’ll do with Karl this year, so as of now, he’s getting an eye-watering $2 million for one week’s work,” an insider told The Sunday Telegraph. “It’s good if you can get it.”

Filming for the show starts on February 26 and will see Karl in the studio for five days at first, before shooting for another four days after that.

It comes after claims Karl will depart Channel Nine altogether by Easter.

“Karl has to film the final segments for his show This Time Next Year at the end of February and that goes into most of March and after that they want him gone,” a source tells The Daily Telegraph.

However a representative for Nine has denied the report.

They told the paper that they were “hoping to continue working with Stefanovic throughout the year.”
