Kanye West knows it was him that Adam Sandler was referencing during his SNL50 performance over the weekend—even though his name did not come out of the comedian’s mouth.

In a musical list of things he will always remember about Saturday Night Live, Sandler sang, “50 years of finding out your favorite musician’s antisemitic.” It was clear to everyone, including West, who he was talking about.

Earlier this month, West went on an offensive X tirade during which he declared himself a “Nazi” who “loves Hitler,” so he saw fit to collect his flowers for the disgraceful behavior on Wednesday when he posted to X, “Adam Sandler, thank you for the love.”

West was a fixture during the last big SNL bash to celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2015, appearing in a sketch and as one of the evening’s musical guests. He was nowhere to be seen this year, however, unsurprisingly given his descent into pro-Nazi rhetoric.

West has been persona non grata at SNL for several years now since he delivered his long-winded rant about race and politics the last time he served as musical guest on the show in 2018. Donning a MAGA hat, the rapper went on and on in an unaired pro-Trump speech, accusing someone “backstage” of bullying him about wearing the hat. Ladies & Gentleman… 50 Years of SNL Music director Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson said that when he made his new documentary, “A lot of our interviewees are like, ‘I’ll talk about everything except Kanye.’”

There was one other moment in the three-and-half-hour special when West did come up by name. It was during the question and answer session with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler that Zach Galifianakis joked from the crowd, “Please stop bothering me, I just want to relax and watch Kanye perform.”
