Joy Behar calls out “View” star Alyssa Farah Griffin, says cohost will become 'Republican again' after election
Behar spoke about Liz Cheney supporting Kamala Harris when she speculated that Griffin will go back to being a staunch conservative following the 2024 election.
Joy Behar celebrated her birthday episode of The View by giving audiences a playfully shady gift when she called out one of her cohosts on the air.
Three days before her actual 82nd birthday, the comedian urged viewers on Friday's episode to put aside political differences to save American democracy before the country heads to the polls in November, after conservative politician Liz Cheney spoke Thursday at a rally and threw her support behind Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris.
"Just do it this one time, do it this one time. Vote for the Democrat to save the country. Listen to Liz Cheney," Behar said from her post at the Hot Topics table, before directing herself toward her Republican cohost, Alyssa Farah Griffin, who previously worked under Donald Trump at the White House. "When everything goes back to normal, then become a Republican again, like Alyssa will become."
Griffin, 35, chuckled at the reference, before fellow Republican panelist Ana Navarro — who has famously clashed with Griffin in the past — told the audience that "we are not at a point right now to be talking about policy differences," and that Harris is "not running against a normal human being" in Trump.
Griffin later jumped in to defend herself.
"I do want to say, I'm still a Republican, and I don't believe it's my job to tell people how to vote, but to give them the facts," she said. "I have facts, having worked closely with him, that they may not know. I feel that's my duty to the country."

Though Behar and Griffin mostly have a warm relationship on air, the former has made lighthearted jabs at Griffin in the past.
In February, Griffin spoke about her cohosts' regular questioning of her decision to not stand firm behind Joe Biden when he was still on the Democratic ticket, admitting that she was "worried Biden is going to lose to Trump" amid balloting.
"Not if people like you don’t vote for him," Behar replied, later adding that, after Griffin — who hasn't formally endorsed a candidate — stressed that she didn't want Trump to become president again, "You and Liz Cheney and all the rest of you never Trumpers need to vote for Biden."
