Josh Hall Blows Up at Christina Haack, Tells Her to 'Shut Up' in Volatile New “Flip Off ”Clip: 'Pissing Me Off'

A new clip from the series premiere of The Flip Off shows what might be Christina Haack and Josh Hall’s breaking point. 

During a tense car ride filmed before their July 2024 split, the exes have a mostly one-sided conversation that ends with Josh berating his then-wife. 

“This is a competition. We gotta pull out all stops. Whatever it takes to win, I’ll do it. Halls rule!” Josh says, glancing over at Christina while driving.

“You’re supposed to say it with me, or repeat it, or something that shows that you’re with me,” he adds when Christina stays quiet. 

“Remember you’re a Hall now. Don’t get confused in this competition about what your last name is,” Josh continues, before snapping, “You’re rude.”

“I don’t over talk,” Christina finally replies, her voice unsteady. 

Josh then escalates the argument. “Yeah, the s—t you say and I’m just like, 'I wish you’d shut up already,'” he says. 

Christina only sighs.

“My wife’s pissing me off already,” he continues, before Christina concludes the conversation, asking simply, “Are we there yet?” 

The scene, which is from the two-hour series premiere (out Jan. 29), alludes to a number of allegations Christina has made about her ex since their split.

In particular, she claimed that Josh had issues with Christina's relationship with her first husband and Flip Off opponent, Tarek El Moussa, with whom she once shared a last name.

The HGTV star told ET in November, that Josh had some “jealousy” about Tarek. The exes have become amicable co-parents to kids Taylor, 14, and Brayden, 9, following their dramatic 2017 split.

“[Josh] doesn’t like our dynamic, because Tarek and I have our own dynamic, and some could call it ‘flirty,’ ” the designer told the outlet. “For me, it’s like a sibling type of thing.”

She also said it was "not fun" filming with Josh: “When someone is insecure by you and doesn’t like to watch you win, that really puts a damper on everything, I feel like I was not shining as bright, to try to not make him feel emasculated. But who wants to live like that?”

She expressed a similar sentiment previously, calling Josh an “insecure man with a large ego," in an Instagram post shortly after news of their divorce became public.

While the newly released scene ends with Christina and Josh seemingly arriving at the house they’re renovating for the show, it leads immediately into another emotional one that PEOPLE previously exclusively shared. 

In that full clip (below), Christina tells Tarek that she and Josh are officially over having had a final big fight.

Christina recounts to Tarek, "We had a blow up... middle fingers in my face," adding, "Things with Josh have been bad for a long time."

She also reveals that their children played a role in her finally ending things.

"The kids literally asked me to leave," Christina says. "They told me he’s not nice to me. Why would I stick around?"

Josh, 44, filed for divorce from Christina in July 2024 after nearly three years of marriage, and the pair have since been involved in a contentious legal dispute that has often played out in the public eye.

The Tennessee-based real estate professional was originally set to be Christina's partner on The Flip Off when HGTV announced it in May 2024, but shortly after the split, Christina returned to filming without him.

Before the release of the new clip (top), HGTV had not addressed if Josh would appear in the show at all. He's been removed from new promotional images the network released in December and is not mentioned by name in a press release shared with PEOPLE.

"As The Flip Off begins, Christina will start the competition against Tarek and Heather alongside her husband, but a sudden life change will bring a shocking twist," HGTV's synopsis teases.

Another of Christina's exes will be making an appearance in the show, HGTV confirmed. Her second husband Ant Anstead, with whom she shares son Hudson, 5, will be appearing on the show as a guest judge. He was spotted filming with Christina in November.

The Flip Off premieres Jan. 29, at 8 p.m. ET/PT with a two-hour episode.
