Jodie Foster Tears Up as Jamie Lee Curtis Pays Tribute to Her 'Bestie' Onstage at 2024 Oscars
"There is no one you would rather have your back than the multi-talented Jodie Foster," Jamie Lee Curtis said during Sunday's Academy Awards broadcast
Jodie Foster and Jamie Lee Curtis shared a sweet moment together at the Oscars 2024.
As Curtis, 65 — who won last year's Best Supporting Actress award for Everything Everywhere All at Once — took the stage at Sunday's 96th Academy Awards to help present this year's Best Supporting Actress honor, the actress commended her friend Foster's legendary career and performance in Netflix's Nyad.
"So I am thrilled to be back on this stage to present this year's best Supporting Actress Oscar, and I am beyond proud to be able to take about one of my besties," Curtis said on stage. "So in Nyad, Jodie Foster brings a physical intensity, coupled with deep concern and care as Bonnie Stoll to Diana Nyad's fierce best friend, motivator and serious ass-kicker."
"And speaking from personal experience, all of those qualities are very really about Jodie as well," Curtis continued. "There is no one you would rather have your back than the multi-talented Jodie Foster."
Foster, 61, could be seen growing emotional and blowing kisses to Curtis as she spoke on her behalf before the award was presented to The Holdovers actress Da'Vine Joy Randolph.

Foster's nomination at Sunday's Oscars ceremony marked her fifth career nomination from the film Academy; she previously won Oscars in 1977 and 1992 for her performances in Taxi Driver and Silence of the Lambs, respectively.
Regina King, Rita Moreno, Lupita Nyong'o and Mary Steenburgen — who have each won Best Supporting Actress in the past — also took part in introducing the categorie's five nominees prior to handing the award to Randolph, 37. Aside from Foster and Randolph, Emily Blunt (Oppenheimer), Danielle Brooks (The Color Purple) and America Ferrera (Barbie) were also nominated for the award at Sunday's awards ceremony. Randolph's win comes after an awards season in which she also won at the Golden Globes, Critics Choice Awards , BAFTA and SAG Awards.
Back in January, Curtis opened up on the Today show about her friendship with Foster — even leaving a question for the True Detective actress, who was appearing on the NBC morning show the following day.
“Just so you know, she is one of my best friends," said Curtis. "She’s in a group with her wife, my husband, and our other friend — we call them “Besties.’ We’re in a text chain together. And at the Golden Globes two years ago, the one during COVID, she won a Golden Globe and I presented it and when I opened it I went, ‘Oh, my bestie!’ So I know Jodie.' "
“She’s my bestie,” Foster said the next day, gushing about Curtis. “We have a group; it’s a group of us, six of us, and we do everything together.”
