Jewel made a surprise appearance during inauguration festivities for Donald Trump, taking the stage for the Make America Healthy Again Inaugural Ball to perform for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his wife, Cheryl Hines.

At the inaugural MAHA ball held Monday night in Washington, D.C., the singer-songwriter performed "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" for Kennedy, the political scion and vaccine skeptic appointed secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services by the Trump administration, and his wife Hines, an actress best known for her work on Curb Your Enthusiasm.

The event was billed as a "celebration of health" and "unity" to "champion a healthier, brighter future for all."

As for her political views, she previously campaigned for Democrat Hillary Clinton during her Senate race in New York, but appears to have become disillusioned with the Clintons, per a 2008 Politico interview with the singer-songwriter, who called the Clintons “the worst of what politics is.”

Reps for Jewel didn't immediately respond to Entertainment Weekly's request for comment.

In stark contrast to his first inauguration in 2016, Trump was able to tap a number of relatively high-profile performers this time around. Carrie Underwood performed "America the Beautiful" on Monday, while rappers Nelly and Snoop Dogg performed during separate inauguration events throughout the weekend, drawing significant backlash from fans. The Village People (though not the original iteration of the band) and Kid Rock also took the stage.

The artists have defended their decision to help celebrate Trump, the first convicted felon to take office. “I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future," said Underwood in a previous statement, while Nelly similarly brushed aside criticism.  "This isn't politics. The politics, for me, it's over. He won. He's the president," said the rapper. "He's the commander-in-chief of what I would like to say is the best country in the world."
