Jessica Simpson Issues Cryptic Warning After Eric Johnson Divorce Filing

Jessica Simpson appears to be channeling her relationship woes into new music.

After teasing a return to the music industry after over a decade, the 44-year-old finally gave fans an official release date to count down to, and it's only about a week away.

But just as she's done with updates prior, the "Irresistible" songstress sprinkled in just enough mystery to make social media users wonder, issuing a rather cryptic warning through the lyrics.

"Go on, use my heart against me," Simpson sings in the clip she shared to Instagram on Wednesday, Feb. 12. "Don't misuse / Don't confuse my love."

Her ominous statement continued in the caption, where she hinted at the title of the new track–"USE MY HEART AGAINST ME"–and included another set of potential lyrics: "Secretly anticipatin’ That you’re takin’ me with you."

"Y’all head on over to JessicaSimpson.com/music to pre-save my first new tune, sneak a peek into my eyes’ mind and get a first look at what these soul vibes are feelin’ like," she added, noting that the single is set to drop next Friday, Feb. 21.

Simpson's latest music teaser comes almost one month after she confirmed her split from her estranged husband, Eric Johnson.

In a Jan. 14 statement shared with Parade, Simpson said that "Eric and I have been living separately" while "navigating a painful situation in our marriage."

The multihyphenate musical artist married the retired tight end in a July 2014 ceremony in Montecito, Calif., and they share three children: daughters Maxwell, 12, and Birdie, 5, and son Ace, 11. Simpson was previously married to Nick Lachey, though the couple divorced after four years in 2006. Johnson was also previously married to Keri D'Angelo, calling it quits after five years in 2010.

"Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them," Simpson added at the time. "We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family."
