Jeopardy! to Resume Regular Episodes Next Week — With Reigning Champ From 8 Months (!) Ago
Lucas Partridge, dust off your buzzer, because it is finally time to defend your unexpectedly protracted, record-setting reign as Jeopardy! champion.
Jeopardy! producer Sarah Foss confirmed on the latest episode of the Inside Jeopardy! podcast that the syndicated quiz show will return with regular episodes at some point next week — with Partridge returning as reigning champ — following eight months’ worth of tournament-style play dictated by the May 2 to Sept. 27, 2023 Writers Guild of America strike.

Episodes taped during the strike needed to use recycled clues and fold in returning players, tournament-style.
“The [Jeopardy! Invitational Tournament] finals will kick off on Friday (April 5), and, as a reminder to our listeners, it is the first player to win two games who will be our champion,” Foss explained on the podcast. As such, the finals “could run as little as two games, as many as four, which means that next week, no matter what, we will be back to regular Jeopardy!
“I know people are excited,” Foss correctly noted.
The aforementioned Lucas Partridge of Las Vegas, Nevada had extended his winning streak to three games in the July 28, 2023 episode of Jeopardy!, which wound up being the last regular one for a while. So at some point during the week of April 8, viewers will see for how much longer his record-setting reign as champion — according to the calendar, at least — continues.
“We’re going to welcome back — you might not remember him, it was so long ago — our three-game champion, Lucas Partridge [who] now holds a record he never wanted to hold, and that is the longest-reigning Jeopardy! champion,” Foss said of Partridge’s strikes-interrupted run.
Are you excited to have “regular” Jeopardy! episodes back sometime next week?
