Everybody cut footloose on the Oct. 2 episode of The Masked Singer, which saw the contestants belting tracks from Footloose in honor of the film’s 40th anniversary.
Robin Thicke kicked off the show with a cover of “Footloose” by Kenny Loggins before joining the judges’ panel alongside Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy and Rita Ora.

Showbird flew up on stage first. In her clue package, Showbird revealed that “work became my entire life — I was married to it.” But “recently, I reconnected with an old friend bird who unexpectedly became my love bird,” she said.
Showbird shared that she gave up on singing two decades ago, and her clue package also featured a purple cupcake and rings.
She sang “Let’s Hear It for the Boy” by Deniece Williams, and afterwards, she received a Footloose-related additional clue: Kevin Bacon’s music box from the movie — this one played hip-hop beats.
“Now that’s more my vibe because back in ’94, I was part of a hip-hop empire,” Showbird explained.
The panel thought Showbird could be Joeng’s Community costar Yvette Nicole Brown, Taraji P. Henson or Sheila E.
Bacon, 66, sent a video message to the show. “That is so cool, and I was so honored to have been in the movie 40 years ago,” he said before reciting the lyrics of “Footloose.”
Ship came aboard next. "In high school, I was a star cheerleader, class president and was even voted prom queen,” Ship explained in her clue package that showed a boot and a heart. “So when I injured my foot and the doctor said I had to sit on the sidelines for a whole year, my heart sank. My frustration led me to the family’s piano, where I’d sit and play for hours on end. It was my therapy.”
Ship said, “Music became my paradise” and has “been a huge source since.”
Ship tackled “Almost Paradise” by Mike Reno and Ann Wilson, and which led McCarthy, 51, to deem Ship a frontrunner. “You have the most beautiful voice, I believe, on Masked Singer season 12 so far,” she said.
Jeong, 55, chimed in, “We all went overboard for the ship tonight.”

For Ship’s Footloose clue, the boat discussed her degrees of separation from Bacon, which went through Melissa Etheridge and Whoopi Goldberg.
“I’m three degrees away from Kevin Bacon,” Shop stated. “I’m connected to Melissa Etheridge, who is connected to Whoopi Goldberg, who starred in Destination Anywhere with Kevin Bacon.”
Kate Bush, Sheryl Crow, Amy Grant and Sarah McLachlan came up as possibilities for Ship.
Woodpecker followed up with a heroic performance. “As a young chick, while most kids are playing in treehouses, I was planting roots in Hollywood,” Woodpecker said in the clue package, which additionally featured a director’s chair, a rubber duck and a small briefcase.
Woodpecker made reference to “growing pains” and said “everyone was all up in my business” while growing up in the spotlight.
Woodpecker tackled Bonnie Tyler’s “Holding Out for a Hero” and afterwards, Woodpecker scored Bacon’s shoes from Footloose as an extra clue.
“Another bird from the Masked Singer family — and also mine — shares the stylish obsession of shoes with me,” Woodpecker said.
The judges suggested Woodpecker might be Regina King, Willow Smith or Letitia Wright.
Buffaloes closed out the show. “Just like those kids in Footloose longing to dance, we’re each rebels in our own way who somehow found each other along the trail,” one Buffalo said in their clue package.

Another Buffalo said the trio “succeeded by not giving a darn what people think.”
“Who cares, we’re rich!” the third Buffalo said.
A poker game and poison popped up in the clue package as well.
Buffaloes got the audience revved up with their Foreigner’s “Waiting for a Girl Like You.”
“Great performance, way to take it into the crowd and create some goosebumps,” Thicke, 47, said.
Mo-town came out on a trailer as Buffaloes’ extra clue. “We’re a little tired right now because we are busy using this tractor to mow lawns all around down,” one of the Buffaloes said.
Bell Biv DeVoe, Big Time Rush, Boyz II Men and 112 arose as possibilities' for Buffaloes’ identity.
“Everybody up there is really close,” host Nick Cannon said.
After the judges and studio audience voted for their favorite performance of the night, Cannon, 43, revealed that Showbird received the fewest votes and would be unmasking. When Showbird popped off her feathery head, Jeong’s guess of his costar Brown appeared.
