Jennifer Lopez Says Fans Keep 'Me Inspired Every Step of the Way' After Making a Splash at Sundance: 'Means the World'
'Kiss of the Spider Woman,' her new movie-musical, debuted at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival on Jan. 26
Jennifer Lopez is overwhelmed with gratitude.
The singer-actress, 55, shared a post on Instagram expressing her thanks to her dedicated fans following the world premiere of her new film, Kiss of a Spider Woman, at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival on Jan. 26. In the post, Lopez shared a screenshot of a glowing review from The Daily Beast alongside a photo of her smiling wide at the premiere.
"One of the many reviews from last night, and my heart is so full," Lopez wrote in the caption. "This project has been such a labor of love, and seeing your excitement means the world to me. I am so grateful!!!"
She continued, "When I think of the message and the music, I truly cannot wait for you to experience this movie when it finally comes out. Your support keeps me inspired every step of the way. 💋🕷️🕸️💃🏼"
At the premiere, Kiss of the Spider Woman received a touching standing ovation. Lopez got emotional at the outpouring of support, and in a post-screening discussion, she gushed over the opportunity to star in the film.
"I've been waiting for this moment my whole life," Lopez said. "When you talk about the importance of musicals, the reason that I even wanted to be in this business was because my mom would sit me in front of the TV... we'd come on once a year, West Side Story on Thanksgiving. I remember I was just mesmerized. And I was like, 'That's what I want to do.'"
She continued, "And that was always my goal. And this is the first time I actually got to do it. This crowd made my dream come true!"

The film, which is co-produced by Matt Damon and Lopez's now ex-husband Ben Affleck, stars Diego Luna as Valentin Arregui, a political prisoner during Argentina's civil war in the 1980s who forms a bond with Luis Molina (Tonatiuh) while imprisoned together. Lopez plays Aurora, the woman Molina is obsessed with in prison.
At Sundance, Lopez shared that Kiss of the Spider Woman is her first musical.
"I did Selena years ago, but it was not my voice," she said of the 1997 Selena Quintanilla-Pérez biopic. "They wanted to use her voice. I did dance a little, but there wasn't much choreography. So this was my first musical."
Kiss of the Spider Woman does not yet have a theater release date.
