Jennie Finch Gives Her Secrets to Being Present and Persistent in Pep Talk: 'Be Where Your Feet Are'

"Be where your feet are, and take it one pitch at a time. One minute at a time. One-half hour at a time," says Finch

Jennie Finch lives her life on and off the softball field the same way — one pitch at a time.

The retired softball player and two-time Olympic athlete teamed up with e.l.f. Cosmetics and PEOPLE to give a pep talk about staying patient, persistent, and in tune with oneself through life's daily battles.

Before beginning her makeup routine, she reminds viewers that it is so easy to get "overwhelmed" with technology and the "million, gazillion things that you have to do" that are "in your face" every day.

"Just take it one pitch at a time," she says. "I think even as a mom, a business owner, be present. Be where your feet are, and take it one pitch at a time. One minute at a time. One-half hour at a time. Whatever it is, we got this, ladies."

Finch begins her routine with e.l.f.'s Stay Cool Primer Stick, which she says is "so refreshing" and "a revival for your eyes, especially in the summertime." She follows up by applying "a little bit" of e.l.f.'s 16HR Camo Concealer and gently rubbing e.l.f.'s Bronzing Drops around her face.

To add "a little extra color" to her cheeks, Finch uses e.l.f.'s Primer-Infused Matte Blush before bringing everything together with e.l.f.'s power Grip Dewy Setting Spray.

"It's a setting spray, and it's incredible," she says. "There's nothing better than feeling fresh after applying makeup, and this setting spray is legit. I'm loving it." Finch encourages viewers to "go be your best self" and completes her look with e.l.f.'s Glow Reviver Lip Oil.

"They even make the lip oil in color. It's just a gorgeous thing," she says. "So, so pretty."

Although Finch retired in 2010, she remains involved in the game as a Major League Baseball youth softball ambassador.
