Yahoo Lifestyle Jenna Bush Hager Unearths Amy Poehler’s ‘SNL’ Impersonation: 'So Funny'
Jenna Bush Hager is being praised for her sense of humor.
On Monday's episode of Today With Jenna & Friends, the 43-year-old was visited by comedian and actress Amy Poehler, who once portrayed her in a sketch for Saturday Night Live—a topic Bush Hager brought up.
"One thing that I remembered about your lustrous career is that you actually played me once," the TV personality said with a smirk. "
"Oh, do you remember that?" Poehler, 53, asked rhetorically.
As the two laughed, producers unearthed the clip in question.
In it, Poehler portrayed a young Bush Hager while Tina Fey—who wrote the 2005 sketch—impersonated her twin sister, Barbara Bush. The SNL stars, joined by Will Forte (as their father, George W. Bush, who, at the time, was president), poked fun at one of the Bush sisters' controversies and tease how the duo got caught underage drinking in college by having Poehler and Fey stumble off to their bedroom to drunkenly discuss their night out and their father's political legacy.
As the sketch played, Bush Hager and Poehler keeled over the table laughing, with the Parks and Recreation alum admitting that revisiting the segment had her "sweating."
"I’m totally sweating," Poehler said. "I think we had fun in that sketch. We didn’t come too hard."
The former first daughter agreed for the most part, telling Poehler that despite the timeline (when it aired, Bush Hager was out of college and working as a teacher), "You still got a lot right."
Viewers held the same sentiment, sharing their adoration for not only the humor of the sketch but the way the mom of three has no problem laughing at herself.
