Jamie Foxx jokes that he saw Diddy in a vision during near-death experience: 'Am I going to the wrong place?'

The actor and comedian also addressed the conspiracy theory that his health scare was caused by Diddy "trying to kill" him.

Jamie Foxx is ready to set the record straight about his recent health crisis... and crack some jokes along the way.

In his new Netflix standup special, What Had Happened Was, Foxx not only reveals the cause of his 2023 medical emergency but addresses the media's coverage of the situation  — including conspiracies that Sean "Diddy" Combs had something to do with his hospitalization.

"The internet was trying to kill me,” Foxx, who turns 57 on Friday, said of the rampant misinformation. “The internet said that Puffy tried to kill me! I know what you’re thinking… Did he?"

As the crowd laughed, Foxx continued, “Hell, no! I left them parties early. I was out by 9. 'Something don’t look right... It looks slippery in here!'"

The rumors emerged on the heels of Combs facing sexual assault allegations that led authorities to investigate his notorious parties and so-called "freak offs," described by prosecutors as "elaborate and produced sex performances” that women were allegedly coerced into participating in. While raiding Combs' Los Angeles and Miami homes in March, prosecutors found supplies including drugs and over 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant. Combs was arrested in Manhattan on Sept. 16 in the wake of a grand jury indictment, for alleged crimes dating back to 2008.

Foxx and Combs have long been connected, with Foxx being one of the speakers who honored the rapper at his 2008 Hollywood Walk of Fame induction. But in his new special, the Back in Action star doesn't hesitate to make jokes at Combs' expense.

“Your life doesn’t flash before your face," Foxx said of his near-death experience. "It was kind of oddly peaceful. I say this all the time, I saw the tunnel, I didn’t see the light. I was in the tunnel though. It was hot in that tunnel."

Foxx said he began to wonder, "'Shit, am I going to the wrong place in this motherf---er?' ‘Cause I looked to the end of the tunnel and I thought I saw the devil... Or was that Puffy?"

To the audience's shocked laughter, he said, "I’m f---in’ around." Then added, "But if it was Puffy, he had a flamin’ bottle of Johnson and —" he began, but cut off before citing the baby oil brand. "No, I’m just kidding.”

Per the unsealed indictment, Combs and members of his enterprise are accused of one or more of a range of charges, including engaging in sex trafficking, forced labor, interstate transportation for purposes of prostitution, coercion and enticement to engage in prostitution, narcotics offenses, kidnapping, arson, bribery, and obstruction of justice.

Combs has pleaded not guilty but has been denied bail multiple times. His trial is set for May 2025.

The rumors about Combs are not the only conspiracy to have emerged out of Foxx's 2023 medical emergency. A representative for the actor previously denied unsubstantiated claims that a COVID vaccine caused his health scare. Then, after Foxx provided a video update the following month, social media users fixated on his appearance and began to speculate that he was cloned or that the video was AI-generated.

Ice-T condemned the "weirdos" behind that conspiracy in an X post, writing, "People would rather believe that Jamie is now a Clone or AI, than the man was just seriously sick and damn near died… Cause he doesn’t look EXACTLY the same??? YOU look different after a bad cold!"

Foxx has since debunked claims about his mystery illness, revealing that he suffered a brain bleed which turned into a stroke, and left him hospitalized for over a month.
