It's official: The Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles are facing off once again in the 2025 Super Bowl for the championship Vince Lombardi trophy. While fans anticipate which team will ultimately win it all, all eyes will be zeroing in on one of the most unsuspecting stars taking the field this Sunday night — Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.
The Houston native has led the Philadelphia Eagles through multiple football seasons, and he's developed a loving fanbase in the process. But it's not just the "Will he, won't he?" question that has everyone talking about Jalen. While his athletic skills are always on display, he's quiet about another element of his life: his relationship with fiancée Bryonna "Bry" Rivera Burrows.
So, how did this NFL power couple first meet? Jalen told Essence in April 2023 he and Bry first met while they were both students at the University of Alabama. The couple later began an on-and-off relationship, and they confirmed their romance when she joined him on the field after winning the NFC championship in January 2023.
What's more, when speaking to the outlet about his romance with Bry, Jalen called himself "spoken for" — and he had been that way for quite some time.
"I knew a long time ago," Jalen stated at the time about dating Bry. "I mean, to this point in my life, that’s an irreplaceable feeling. I think that’s what allowed us to get to where we are now."
When Jalen got chosen as the 53rd pick by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Bry was living in Dallas, Texas and working at the tech company IBM, according to People. Jalen's hails from the same state — his hometown is Houston. Having work-life balance clearly serves the couple well, as they are officially in the next stage of their long-term relationship.
Just one year after making their public debut at the Time100 Next Gala in October 2023, Jalen confirmed to Essence in September 2024 that he and Bry were engaged. The outlet shared pictures of Jalen's proposal, which occurred in an intimate, romantic setting. And despite all of these major life changes, the duo has tried their best to remain under the radar.
Jalen rarely posts anything that isn't about football or his philanthropic efforts, and Bry's Instagram is currently set to private. It wasn't until the Eagles' win at the 2023 NFC Championship that fans got confirmation that Jalen was even dating someone. But Jalen, who is an anomaly for having an all-female management team in the world of professional football, has credited the strong female support system around him for helping him achieve success — and it's clear that Bry is unofficially a part of that.
"I have a team of straight hustlers," he told Sports Illustrated in October 2022. "And that's how I am on the field and off the field... I admire anyone who puts their head down and works for what they want. And I know women who do that daily, but they don’t get the same praise as men — they don’t get the praise that they deserve... I see it all the time. And they deserve their flowers too."
We're sure just as Jalen champions his personal team, Bry will likely be giving the energy right back and cheering him on in New Orleans during Super Bowl LIX. And as for Jalen... he loves having her at his side during one of the biggest times in his life.
