Jaden Smith Wore a Giant Black Castle on His Head at the Grammys
Jaden Smith is king of the castle after breaking the internet with his Grammys look.
The 26-year-old actor and rapper walked the red carpet at last night’s music award show in Los Angeles while sporting a funky, all-black headpiece shaped like a miniature house. The unusual garment is actually a piece of wearable art dubbed the “Vampire Castle” by designer Dora Abodi of Abodi Transylvania. Smith’s stylist Lisa Jarvis paired the architectural accessory with a simple, slim-cut Louis Vuitton tuxedo, a tie by MSFTS, and a MusiCares blue heart-shaped pin on his lapel to raise awareness and funds for the California wildfires. Smith was there in attendance with his sister, Willow, to support their dad, Will Smith, who was one of the presenters.

“We custom made the castle for his red carpet appearance at the Grammy Awards,” the brand explained in a post on its Instagram page. “The artistic combines the mysterious elegance of ABODI Transylvania with a bold, modern design inspired by Transylvanian history and the vampire legends of the Bathori.”
According to the company, photographer and art director Szilveszter Mako was also credited with being a collaborator on the statement-making look. In terms of the specifics, the outlandish headpiece resembles a large castle complete with turrets, windows, and a large circular cut-out for Smith’s face to fit through.
Most notably, Czech model and actress Eva Herzigova wore the Vampire Castle headpiece when she posed for a Numéro magazine cover story in March 2024. To that point, actor Willem Dafoe also donned the hat during his 2023 GQ Italia Man of the Year shoot.
“During a period of my life, I was Gothic,” Smith told Numeró back in 2016. “I was only wearing black and I was hiding from the sun because I was a vampire. I was a vampire, for real. Now I’m not a vampire, I’m out of this phase.” In 2017, Smith made headlines with another attention-grabbing ensemble when he showed up to the Met Gala with locks of his recently chopped hair in hand.
Of course, if you wanted to snag a fortress of your own, the avant-garde headpiece can be made to your measurements and retails for €4,500 (or about $4,630), per the brand’s website.
