Inside Channing Tatum and Zoë Kravitz's Breakup: 'They Realized They're at Different Stages' (Exclusive Source)
"The split is amicable," a source tells PEOPLE
What led to Channing Tatum and Zoë Kravitz's decision to call off their engagement? A source sheds light, saying the two stars agreed they were no longer aligned.
"The split is amicable. They realized they're at different stages in life," says the source.
Tatum, 44, and Kravitz, 35, met when she cast him to play the charismatic villain in her directorial debut Blink Twice, a thriller that debuted in theaters in August. On the press tour, they openly expressed their love for each other in joint interviews.
PEOPLE reported Oct. 29, though, that the pair had ended their three-year romance.
Says the source, "Channing spends a lot of time in Los Angeles because of his daughter, but Zoë prefers N.Y.C."

The Magic Mike actor shares 11-year-old daughter Everly with ex-wife Jenna Dewan, his costar from the 2006 film Step Up. He and Dewan, 43, settled and finalized their divorce in September — six years after their own split. (She's now engaged to actor Steve Kazee, with whom she shares Rhiannon, 4 months, and Callum, 4.)
Just hours before Tatum and Kravitz's split news, multiple outlets reported that the two joined the cast of Alpha Gang, an alien invasion movie that'll also star Cate Blanchett, Dave Bautista, Steven Yeun and Riley Keough.
Production insiders confirm Tatum and Kravitz still plan to move forward with the project despite their fresh breakup.
The source says, "They will continue to work together and are excited about a new project. They both love filming and creating. Channing has a lot of respect for Zoë's focus and passion."

At the Blink Twice Los Angeles premiere in August, Tatum praised Kravitz, telling PEOPLE at the time, "To get to create something with someone that you love is probably one of the most gratifying things other than having a kid with somebody, I think."
In a speech that same night, Kravitz, who was previously married to actor Karl Glusman, said Tatum "supported me in every way" throughout the making of the film. “It’s really very cool to get to make a movie, but when you get to do it with the love of your life, it's even cooler,” she said, in part.
Of their October breakup, just over two months after that, another source said: "They haven’t been on the same page and grew apart."
