Influencer Dies at 28 After Falling 65 Feet While Mountain Climbing

Influencer Maria Eftimova died while mountain climbing in Wales on Feb. 22. She was 28 years old.

The University of Salford student was ascending the north ridge of Tryfan when she fell to her death into steep terrain, reported BBC. The mountain stands at 3,010 feet.

According to the outlet, Eftimova was scaling the mountain with a group when she fell around 65 feet. A team member close by reportedly started CPR after the accident. The Bulgaria native died from her injuries.

The climber's best friend Megan Griffiths was appreciative of everyone's efforts to save her, BBC reported.

"Maria was a one of a kind person who lived life to the fullest - not only adventurous and free-spirited but also incredibly kind, intelligent and selfless," Griffith said, per the outlet.

She continued, "Her tragic loss will be felt by so many, and we are absolutely devastated to lose such a precious friend."

"Maria was an ambitious, bright and cherished, whose vibrant personality, energy and aura touched and uplifted all around her," added Victoria Critchley, another friend of Eftimova.

"She had a passion for engineering, having studied civil engineering at the University of Salford and a love for extreme sports," she continued.

Tryfan is notoriously one of the "deadliest mountains" in the UK and the world, reported BBC Countryfile. The rugged Welsh peak is described as a mix between hiking and mountaineering.

According to BBC, Eftimova was the second person to die from an accident at Eryri National Park within the past 10 days.

On Feb. 16, Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation reported that a walker slipped on a patch of grass and fell around 32ft while hiking Glyder Fach.

Her partner also slipped, per a rescue spokesperson, but only suffered head and wrist injuries. He managed to call for help and began CPR.
