Kid wins the internet with 'influencer apologising' costume

Kids say the darnedest things, but they also so often have a funny knack of hitting the nail directly on the ever-elusive head.

One kid has kept that tradition alive and kicking with a searingly satirical outfit that shines a light on influencer culture, and has the internet in stitches.

A video posted to Twitter shows off the ingenious costume, and it really is pure genius.

The child in question pokes his head through a hole cut into a cardboard cutout ‘Youtube video’ entitled ‘My Apology’, and dabs at his eyes with tissues while recreating a scene that’s become all too common.

“I’m sorry for making a Tic Toc (a video app) at my grandmothers funeral,” he sobs.

“And remember to subscribe and like for a chance to win my gift card giveaway of $1000” he cheekily finishes off the script.

The hilarious script is an ironic nod to some of the outrageous scandals that have gripped the stars of YouTube over the years, in a case of the truth being much stranger than fiction.

The attention to detail in the costume has also attracted widespread praise online.

The ‘video’ includes dozens of tiny tell-tale white dots indicating inserted ads, and over 7 million ‘views’.

It is of course, reminiscent of recent Youtube scandals such as James Charles’ infamous showdown with Tati Westbrook and Logan Paul’s apology for a disturbing video that showed a dead body in a Japanese forest.

The costume has made waves online with the original tweet receiving over 150k retweets, almost 700k likes and thousands of comments.

It was filmed at Vidcon, an online video convention which celebrates the best -and evidently worst - of the online video market.

The response to this costume in particular was unanimous - it was the perfect summary of a culture people are increasingly rejecting.

Some were loving the details put into the video, such as the ads and reactions.

Most were just happy to sit back and enjoy the spectacle.

The initial concept came from a real life Youtuber, Jacks Films who posted the concept back in 2018, but this latest incarnation is what truly has people talking.

Well that’s our costumes for this Halloween sorted - the appropriate mix of clever and terrifying is usually so hard to come by, but this beauty has it all in spades.
