Between the adorable decor, shamelessly mushy declarations of love, and abundance of sweet treats, Valentine’s Day has always been one of my favorite holidays. This year, my calendar is chock-full of celebrations leading up to February 14, from Galentine’s Day dinners and movie nights with friends to fashion events and work happy hours.

One of my favorite ways to get into the Valentine’s Day spirit is to snuggle up on the couch and watch a romcom. To stay comfy while I get my You’ve Got Mail on, I’d probably opt for a cozy sweater and baggy jeans. Finally, no Valentine’s Day style guide would be complete without a fancy option for date night or, in my case, a dinner party with friends. My sense of style can best be described as bold and maximalist, so I was immediately drawn to the vibrant red plaid and full-skirt silhouette of this Free People maxi dress.
