I'm A Celebrity's Poh reveals insane amount of times producers asked her to do the show

Poh Ling Yeow has cemented herself as a fan favourite on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! and has now revealed how many times she had actually been asked to do the show before finally agreeing.

In an interview with WHO, the former MasterChef star shared that in the end it all came down to being the right time, after producers had approached her multiple times already.

"I’ve always had a curiosity about doing something a bit nuts like this. Also being on reality TV has always yielded huge personal expansion," she told the publication.

"It was the eighth time I’d been asked and after finding it such a hoot to watch last season, I was like, 'I’m down to gag, starve, cry, fly and make new friends if it makes Australia as happy as I felt being a viewer!'."

Poh was one of the first celebrities revealed to be heading into the bush for the show, and admitted that she did find it "challenging" to be among so many stars.

"It was quite confronting feelings to be honest," she told The Daily Telegraph.

"I accidentally found myself in the entertainment industry, so being around a lot of performers I knew I would struggle with that."

The 47-year-old also said she had to turn down the opportunity a few times.

"I’ve done reality TV every few years now without meaning to – it will just pop up. (This year again) I was like ‘no freakin’ way’."

She's quickly become a fan favourite on the show, with viewers applauding Poh Ling Yeow just this week after she lashed out at fellow contestants Beau Ryan and Joey Essex for their constant complaining.

The former MasterChef star said she wanted to “kill” her co-stars for devouring the camp’s leftover porridge after dinner, despite others having barely eaten anything.

“I don't like seeing people be made to feel uncomfortable,” she said during her confessional.

“And clearly Red Team had so little tonight, and there were still a couple of people - we know who they are - on the Blue Team, they were onto the porridge, and this is getting a bit tedious.”

Viewers took to social media to agree with Poh and share their thoughts on Joey and Beau’s actions.

“I agree with Poh, they’re getting annoying now,” one person tweeted, while another added, “Yes Poh, they have been carrying on like pork chops! It’s irritating”.

“Joey and Beau really are behaving like spoilt brats and it's both embarrassing and disgraceful. They're grown men, one with kids. They really need to do better,” a third wrote.
