Hurricane Milton: Cougar Town Boss Makes Clear the Cul de Sac Crew Would Evacuate (…Unlike in Season 3)
Cougar Town creator Bill Lawrence advises the people of Florida to not emulate the Cul de Sac crew and instead evacuate if advised to, as Hurricane Milton makes a beeline for the Sunshine State.
In the cold open to the Season 3 episode “Down South” (watch on Hulu), Jules (played by Courtney Cox) learns that Hurricane Mary is due to hit their fictional town of Gulfhaven, Fla. (which by my back-of-napkin math is about 75 miles south of Tampa). Jules’ first response is not to flee, however, but host a “hurricane party.”

Hurricanes “are like adult snow days,” Jules explained. “You don’t have to go work, you drink and play games….”
For the carefree, wine-guzzling Cul de Sac crew, Grayson (Josh Hopkins) noted, “That’s like every day.”
“But with wind,” Jules quipped.

A Cougar Town fan apparently had that Season 3 storyline in mind when they jokingly suggested on X that Jules & Co. “wouldn’t evacuate” and get out of Milton’s way — to which Lawrence made clear, the stakes were far less serious on the ABC comedy.
“Nahhhh, that was a smaller storm. This time they would [evacuate]. Promise,” Lawrence replied.
To his “many friends and family in Florida,” Lawrence then urged: “Everyone be safe! If you’re supposed to evacuate, make sure you’re on the move.”
FEMA warns that Milton is a dangerous storm, and that those in its path should “take action now. Follow directions from your local officials and leave immediately if told to evacuate.” Call 800-729-3413 for evacuation assistance.
