Jordan Willis mugshot; Ivory Carson mugshotTwo Missouri men have been charged with distribution of a controlled substance and involuntary manslaughter after three others were found dead outside of a Kansas City, Mo., home last year following a Chiefs game.
The mysterious case made national headlines and confounded the victims’ family members, one of whom told PEOPLE last year that the party host’s story didn’t “add up.”
The Kansas City Missouri Police Department announced charges on Wednesday against Jordan Willis and Ivory Carson, who each have been charged with distribution of a controlled substance and three separate counts of involuntary manslaughter.
“Some people seemed to believe charges would never be brought in this case, perhaps because the investigation has spanned more than a year,” Platte County Prosecuting Attorney Eric Zahnd said in a statement.
Kansas City Missouri Police Chief Stacey Graves said the department’s detectives “never stopped working on this case.”
“Though we often want answers immediately, great police work takes time,” Graves added.

David Harrington, Clayton McGeeney and Ricky JohnsonThe charges come 14 months after Clayton McGeeney, 36, David Harrington, 37, and Ricky Johnson, 38 were mysteriously found dead on Jan. 9, 2024 outside Willis’ suburban Missouri home, two days after they were last seen attending a watch party there.
Kansas City police said Wednesday that McGeeney’s fiancé found the men’s bodies after she went to Willis’ home to look for her fiancé two days after he didn’t come home from the party and wasn’t answering her messages. The department announced this week that detectives found bags of cocaine and fentanyl inside Willis’ home soon after while conducting a search of the property.

Police previously told PEOPLE last year that there were "no obvious signs of foul play" in the three men’s deaths and that investigators were treating this as a "death investigation” rather than a homicide case.
“The facts don't add up,” Johnson’s brother, Jonathan Price, told PEOPLE as the investigation initially began.
The department said that each of Willis and Carson's charges carry "a maximum prison sentence of 10 years in prison."
Platte County Jail records reviewed by PEOPLE show both men are currently in custody and being held on $100,000 bonds.
