Yahoo Lifestyle Hospital chapel transformed into multi-faith room
A hospital's prayer room has been transformed into a space for people of all faiths and beliefs.
The multi-faith room at the Princess Royal Hospital (PRH) in Telford is open for staff, patients, families and volunteers.
The room will also be used to celebrate cultural events, like Pride and South Asian Heritage Month.
"We hope that everyone who visits will find peace, comfort and some time for themselves, even in the most difficult days," said Kevin Place, chaplain and chair of the multi-faith network at the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH).
The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH) which is run by the same trust, also has its own similar multi-faith room.
Visitors and patients are encouraged to use the room as a place for quiet and reflection, as well as conversations, the trust said.
It added that changing the room's name represented it's efforts to be more inclusive, and that there was a need for a space for colleagues to meet that was not a staff room or canteen.
"We want all our patients, visitors and staff to feel supported and included, and our chaplaincy team have done a fantastic job in transforming this space," said Hayley Flavell, director of nursing.
