Homeowners Are Sharing The Pricey Home Splurges That Are 100% Worth It, And I'm Taking Some Serious Notes

Being a homeowner comes with many decisions, including what to dish out money on. Recently, we asked the homeowners of the BuzzFeed Community to share with us the pricey home splurge that ended up being totally worth the money, and even though I don't own a home myself, I'm putting some of these on my wish list. Here are some of the home purchases that, depending on whether you're a homeowner or not, might fascinate you into wanting one for yourself:

."We installed an outside shower. It's my favorite feature of our fully-equipped house."

."I got a digitally-controlled shower. Press a button, and the shower turns on at the same temperature as the day before. No more fiddling with the taps trying to get the water just right."

."Replacing a wooden deck with a screened-in porch. No more bringing cushions in and out, flies, mosquitos, and hot sun. We added a fireplace, TV, and recliners, and now we can be out on the porch for at least nine months out of the year."

."We put air conditioning in the garage. I don't usually keep it very cold in the summer or very warm in the winter, but just enough to take the edge off, so it doesn't cost me more than a few bucks each month to run. But when I want to do an oil change or house project, I can turn the temp down and work in comfort. It also works great for family gatherings. Oh, the family is coming for the holidays? Take the cars out of the garage, and now there's an instant game room for the kids. Also, it makes a nice smoke room where you can smoke some cigars or whatever else and not stink up the house."

."An air drying system for the shower. It completely dries the shower walls, floor, and bench. The system is customized to your shower dimensions and features. No more shivering in the shower while drying it, and no more lingering dampness that promotes the growth of gross things!"

."We just put in a whole house generator, and it's already kicked on a few times. Once, it kept us running for 13 hours after someone hit a telephone pole down the street and knocked out the power. We live in a relatively rural area, and the neighbors are not really close, so it doesn't bother them. The generator isn't even really that loud."

."I bought a controller for my sprinkler system, and it was 1,000% worth it. It is so simple and easy to use; I can water any zone whenever I want with just the touch of a button on my iPad or phone. You can put several programs on there if you want, and you can easily edit them. The system even has a built-in automatic rain delay. I'd recommend it to anyone."

."We got our basement waterproofed last summer! This past spring was extremely rainy. Typically, water would have come into the basement through the cracks in the concrete, but now it stays totally dry!"
