Home and Away star announces surprise pregnancy: 'Best news'

Demi Harman's former Home and Away stars were stunned by the exciting news.

Former Home and Away star Demi Harman is expecting her first child with husband Andrew Brooks. The actress, 29, is most well known for playing Sasha Bezmel on the Aussie soap from 2011 to 2015.

The loved-up star made the surprise announcement in a joint Instagram post with her Disney producer husband. The pair looked relaxed as they soaked up the sun on Queensland’s Tangalooma Island.

The former Better Homes and Gardens co-host sat on a palm tree trunk while cradling her belly, with Andrew holding up both hands behind her in shaka signs. Demi was all smiles in a graphic white tee, blue patterned shorts and white sunnies. “2 become 3 in 2023,” the caption read, followed by a baby emoji.

Her Home and Away co-stars were quick to comment, with many sending their best wishes for the young couple.

“The best news!!!! Congratulations,” wrote Ada Nicodemou, who plays Leah Patterson on the show.

Georgie Parker, who plays Alf Stewart's daughter Roo Stewart, wrote, “Oh sweetheart, congratulations to you both."

Lynne McGranger, who has been on the soap as Irene Roberts for over 30 years, added, “How wonderful."

Friends and fans also flooded the comment section with praise for the expecting couple.

“So excited for you, sweet thing! You’re going to be the best mama!” one person gushed.

“BABY BROOKS, CAN NOT WAIT,” another added.

“Yay! Congratulations, such an exciting time!” a third exclaimed.

The loved-up couple tied the knot in January 2022, in a stunning ceremony held at the luxe O’Donnell House in Palm Springs. The pair first went public with their relationship in 2018, with Andrew popping the question on the 4th of July the very next year.

Brisbane-born Demi met Andrew after moving to the US following her Home and Away exit. She previously dated former co-star Alec Snow, who played Matt Page on the soap, before calling it quits in 2017.
